Is this phone made of plastic or aluminum? I read earlier that it was plastic, but I saw a flyer in a verizon store that said it was metal. Plus the moto website says its made with "eye-catching metals" but the advertisement is different than the original v3. What's the real deal here?

i work at a verizon dealer and i have never seen anything from verizon saying that the phone is metal. the closest thing i have seen tehm say is "it has a metallic finish." that is just in reference to the metal flake in the paint. the phone is mostly plastic but the battery cover appearsto be aluminum.

Actually it appears to me the the battery cover is the only part that is plastic. The chasis is definitely metal, probably aluminum. I know plastic, and this definitely is not.

Did I do something to offend you, or are you naturally a jerk? I own the phone, and am looking at it right now. Do you own one?

One more thing, the specs specifically state that it has a metal finish. That's metal finish, not metallic finish. Metallic finish would mean that it appeared metal. Metal finish means that the finish is metal. Have a great day gboy.

I was simply answering a question and you got on my for not know what I am talking about. Here's a quote from Mobile-review .com

"The unique feature of the phone is its material. The plastic is almost absent in the construction; different alloys are predominated. The material pleasantly cools the hand; it is not a common used sputtering, but the real alloy. The phone is made of metal and has the smallest dimensions, first of all the depth. The main difficulty for developers was to make not the thin “metallic” phone."

If you would like that link along with another one, just let me know, afterall isn't that the purpose of this site? To help others rather than call them stupid?

ok let it go, i never called you stupid. call any verizon or moto store. they will tell you that the phone casing is made out of plastic. the only actual metal on the outside is the battery cover and the keypad. this argument is rediculous. it is so freakin obvious that it is plastic.

No worries, the point wasn't to get into an argument. I am holding the phone right now, and have read a number of articles that state that it's made mostly of various alloys. I was just trying to answer skyjet's question.

that doesnt say anythiing specific. sure the phone is made of metal...and plastic! believe it or not the phone is not made up of solid metal! it does have a little on it though. as for the whole 'alloy' thing, ever heard of Thermoplastics? hmmm a plastic alloy that stays cool or warm like a thermos which is composed of thermal alloys. dont believe me? look it up. im sorry but you guys are crazy if you think that this phone is made outta metal...completely crazy.

Sorry, but I gotta go with kbreslaw on this one. The front cover is made of the same alloy as the battery cover and the silver insert is metal as well. I'm looking at it right now. I don't want to get involved in this whole argument, but do you actually have a Razr?

yup, ive had one for about 2 weeks. i work at a verizon dealer. as for the battery cover, that is in fact aircraft grade aluminum. the front of the phone is the 'alloy' material. reviews and 3rd party 'specs' are sometimes very misleading it the way they word info.. the phone is made up of metal and plastic. the outer shell is an alloy...a plastic alloy. call moto, and ask for the tech dept. ask them what the shell is made of.
