PhoneTools Thread

Dec 11, 2005, 3:08 PM
I have read mixed posted concerning getting PhoneTools to work with the V3c.

I read that certain drivers might be the issue. Does anyone have a link to the drivers?

I have also heard of webpages that discuss file transfers on Verizon Moto phones. Does anyone know of one?

Thanks in advance.

==> First download http://www.bvrp.com/Customers/Motorola/Driver Tool.zip

==> Run the tool with the phone not connected.

==> Once the driver tool is done, then connect the phone via USB. Let MS do its thing in recognizing the "modem"

==> You need the latests Motorola Mobile Phone Tools. If you do not have the latest (3.28 or something) open MPT and get to the point where you have the phone skin pop up. Hit the menu button and run Live Update.

==> Start MPT. Do not plus in you phone until it tells you to (after you select UDB and hit next).

==> Wait for verification and enjoy

Hey, thank you sooo much for this info...

Forgive me for asking but does this work? What service do I need on my Razr to be able to hook it up as a modem for my laptop? I don't mind paying for service as long as I know it will work 🙂

Thanks again!

If you play by the rules, you need the $59.99 unlimited data plan. And thanks for the driver tool link. 😲

Well, I am paying for the unlimited data plan already with my existing phone (which I am getting rid of in lieu of the Razr) so it's a wash... That's good news, Thanks!

btw, if anyone needs it, here's 3.23 of MPT: http://evanzhang.com/mpt323.exe

So I just want to confirm -- there are folks who are accessing the internet on their computers using the Verizon Razr V3C as a USB modem, right?

Thanks again, guys & gals...

are you using verizon or another carrier, why aren't you utilizing evdo? are you using bluetooth or usb cable? i heard that bluetooth limits your speeds to about 143kbps. i have the new blackeberry 7130e to use as a modem because no one said you could use DUN on the razr. i just need to find out if it will work on mac.

Verizon's party line so far is that you can't use DUN on the RAZR. But the V3c driver is available to people who are on this forum and others like it, so I would think if you pay the unlimited broadband data rate, they won't have any problems. I suspect that shortly they will make it formal and offer the option as they do on the 7130e.

I have no idea if DUN works with a MAC, either on the 7130e or the V3c. But I would guess if it works with one, it should with the other.

If you got the 7130e, I don't think you will find it works particularly well with the MAC as a PDA except in tethered mode. With a PC, you get the full BB functionality of push EMail and Outlook synchronization.

Check the levels of the song prior to you uploading it. Preview it in MPT before you upload it. All my MP3s play loudly.

Ok, I'm sorry, but you should be more aware of what the basics are before you enter one of these forums. Yes, you need a USB cable. Get one from you camera, from CompUSA, from anyplace that sells USB cables. This is not rocket science......basic USB is USB. With Mobile Phone Tools you link your PC with the Razr V3c. So download MPT and use live update to bring you to Ver. 3.38 Once you are at 3.28 you PC will recognize your phone and you can transfer files back and forth. Contacts from Outlook, Pictures and Sounds.

Good Luck,

Jay

I did this while I was in Europe. It seemed almost too simple. I downloaded MPT to my LapTop and when launched went to Live Update and downloaded Ver. 3.28 dated: 7/13/2005
After that it recognized my Verizon Razr V3c and everything worked. Contacts from Outlook, Picture transfer and Sounds.

Ver. 3.28 7/13/2005

Really, on second thought, it was just too easy.

You are not going to find it on any US sites. Try adding .ru or .jp to search Russian or Japonesse site. Most likely you will only find them on a website you can't read. I found a copy...but it took forever.

Sorry..no linky

The question I was replying to was about PST (Phone Service Tools - phone servicing aka hacking tool) not MPT (mobile Phone Tools - consumer synching tool).

MPT is easy to find...even for the unscrupulous. PST...even if you are good...you'll need an hour or so to find that program as it is not available to the public...not even for sale.

Most sites that have it at the ready for a pirate have taken it down. .jp and .ru sites are your only hope for PST.

You can find it, but most people won't tell you where. 😁

The main reason is that if you are not computer savvy enough to be able to find the software...you really shouldn't be attempting to mess with the seems in your phone.

Just got my RAZR from Verizon today. Updated MPT and updated the drivers from BVRP. I was able to update contacts using MPT (via USB) but THE MULTIMEDIA STUDIO ICON WAS "TURNED OFF." I have been trying for a couple of hours to re-update / re-install drivers but no changes.

DID VZW disable this feature? I have read mixed answers on this question.

HOW CAN I UPLOAD PICS and SOUNDS OTHER THAN VIA EMAIL AT THIS POINT???

Advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
