OK, just went by the local store and picked up two A950’s for my wife and myself. Looks to have the new firmware on it (v. a950.yk24) so I’m interested in my options.

Personally, I think the phone itself is very nicely done, but the artificially imposed limits Verizon has implemented are driving me crazy. Their software is eating 12+mb of the internal 24mb, if you use their USB cable and sync up additional songs only 2-3 will fit, even after you load your music you can’t use it as a ringtone. You can’t download your camera images even though they are stored in the same memory area as the WMA’s, etc…

So far it looks like I have 3 options:

1) a few local cell shops claim they can remove blocks on most phones. I haven’t checked if they...

I know people on here have been successful using Bitpim, but since it doesn't support the 950 yet, they go through the filesystem, which I'm afraid to mess with. In the meantime, you can send MP3's to your phone by e-mailing them as an attachment to: your10digitcellnumber@vzwpix.com. You'll recieve the message, go to inbox and choose save sound, then under MY_SOUNDS, hit options and you can then choose "SET AS" and set it as a ringtone.
