I've talked to both verizon and samsung on this subject. there is no way to add words to this phones directory. it uses "word" instead of "t9 word" i guess its samsungs horrible version of t9.

both verizon and samsung declinded to tell me if there will be an update to add this option to the phone. so in other words thier most likely not gonna do anything about it.

trading this phone back to verizon in exchange for a lg 8100. the 8100 uses a mini sd card (more used) than the trans flash card thats used in the 950.

You will like the 8100 so much better in so many ways other than just texting!

you arent joking. only had the 8100 for about 4 hours and theres already many differences that are better. for example the leather case that it comes in doesnt go over the camera eye. and the part that goes over the keys doesnt cover up the 4 way with the ok button in the middle. much easier to feel what your doing!!

Of course, there are many differences that are worse on the vx-8100. The camera performs poorly with lots of grain in low light, not to mention the lack of many camera options present on the a950, including the lack of auto-flash. The voice command system is awful on the vx-8100. It requires many more steps (prompts) before it dials your call. It makes many more errors on voice recognition. You can't close the phone in speaker-phone mode. It has poorer RF and poorer battery life. It is only capable of 10 sec video clips even with the memory card, while the a950 with a card can give you 15 min videos. I will agree, however, the text entry is better on the vx-8100, and if you do a lot of text entry, the vx-8100 is a better choice ...

supposedly when the v.5 update comes out, its supposed to fix the speakerphone issue, along with the camera issue. i'm not too horribly worried about the camera i guess, i have a 7.1 mp nikon that i use if i'm wanting to take pics. the camera on the phone is just for those "damn, i dont have my camera on me" moments.

and, it seems like i have less problems with the voice command system. maybe its a difference on our pronunciations?

The most annoying thing about the vx-8100's voice command system is the number of prompts that are required. For example with the vx-8100, lets say you want to call Barbara at work. First you have to say "call someone". Then the phone asks, "who do you want to call?". You say "Barbara". The phone then asks "do you want home?"; you say "no". The phone then asks "do you want mobile?"; you say "no". The phone then asks "do you want work"; you say "yes", and it then dials. With the a950, you merely say "CALL Barbara work", and the phone dials. It only on occasion asks you to confirm, "did you say call Barbara work". You say yes and it dials. So at most you have 2 steps with the a-950. With the vx-8100 you could have as ma...
