I keep my phone on a belt clip on my visor of my car. Can I answer a call and use speakerphone without opening the phone?

Thanks

You have to answer the phone with the flip open but then you can close it and continue the call with the speakerphone on.

You can push and spin the spinnerwheel - at the same time - without opening the phone to answer a call. It takes a bit of practice to get used to. If you want to practice... the same move turns on the front LCD when there is no call and the phone is closed (Also press and hold Volume Down to turn on the front LCD).

There may be other buttons or combos of buttons on the phone that let you answer with it closed, but that is what I've found so far!

Also, the Samsung SCH-a950 has an Auto-Answer feature which will automatically answer the phone for you after either 1, 3, or 5 seconds without opening the phone.

Just make sure you don't accidentally leave it on!

I tried spinning the wheel and pushing it at the same time with the flip closed and the speakerphone on and I couldn't get the phone to answer the call. I understand the AA already. Is there a special technique you use to spin and push?

Basically it seems like it's just one revolution... try starting with the dot at the bottom, then spinning it all the way around once while holding it down, then release.

Actually I jst tested it... seems like if you hold any button down on the front, it will answer the call. Easier than spinning the wheel, does that work for you?

I can't get my phone to answer the call. I want to make sure I have it set correctly. I have the speakerphone on and the flip closed when I try your technique. Maybe your phone is unique in that it allows you to do that.

Ahh, I'll bet it's the answer setting. I have mine set to "Any Key." Maybe yours is "Flip Open" or "Send Only"?

Tools -> Call Settings -> Answer Options

I can't really think of anything else. Any of the mp3 buttons or the turnwheel will answer the call for me. Volume down silences the ringer, volume up does nothing, camera button does nothing.

I just got it!!! Thanks so much! I had my settings on send only and I changed it to any key and it works. This is a great feature that I'm leaving set. I can't believe the manual didn't mention anything like this.

I agree, it's very convenient to be able to use the phone without opening it, glad I could help!

Also now Google will return this thread for anyone else who has questions about answering a call on the Samsung SCH-a950 without opening the phone, answering the Samsung SCH-a950 on speakerphone, and answering the Samsung SCH-a950 on headset without opening the lid and probably other mobile phones as well.

Some good ol' Thanksgiving "stuffing" =)
