Go into the Settings and Tools menu. Press 2. Tools. The Tools menu will then pop up. Under Tools, press 7. Voice Services. Press 2. Train Word. Then press 3. Digit Dialing. Press 1. Adapt Digits.
I never needed to train my phone. It worked great doing nothing to it. The vx-8100, on the other hand, for me needed training in order to work even 75% of the time which was the best I could do with it. Another thing, I should mention.
