Phone works great. Better reception that 8100. However, voice calling is horrible. Keeps missing or goes to text. I found talking very low seems to work better, but no match for LG.

The voice system is going to text probably because you are not using the system correctly. You must preface the name your wish to call by saying the word "CALL" ;e.g. "CALL John Doe" and it will connect you nearly 99 percent of the time; if just say "John Doe" it will more often pull up text; sometimes it might place the call; if you are dialing a number say "CALL 555-555-555"; if you just say 555-555-555 it will make errors.

I always say 'call' before the name. VZW just swapped out phone and now all I get is 'sorry no match found'. This phone is worse than the 8100 ever was. No choice but to go to Moto 815. VZW. 😡 😡

The Moto 815 is probably not a good choice for you, either, since it has nearly an identical system as on the a-950. The voice command software for both phones was written by Voice Signal Inc, an indenpendent software company which sells their voice command system to several phone makers.

Most users on other forums found the a-950 the Voice Signal command system to be vastly superior to the vx-8100's own software which demands more prompts before dialing and then more often errors on recognizing the command; eg. on a vx-8100, you can't just say "call John Doe work " as you can on the a-950; you must say "call someone"; the phone asks, who do you want to call; you then say" John Doe'; it asks "home?"; you say "no"; it asks then, "mobil...

How do you train it to your speech pattern? I saw the 'sensitive' adjustment & speed, but nothing else.

Go into the Settings and Tools menu. Press 2. Tools. The Tools menu will then pop up. Under Tools, press 7. Voice Services. Press 2. Train Word. Then press 3. Digit Dialing. Press 1. Adapt Digits.

I never needed to train my phone. It worked great doing nothing to it. The vx-8100, on the other hand, for me needed training in order to work even 75% of the time which was the best I could do with it. Another thing, I should mention. I found that the slower you enter the phone number with the a-950, the more errors the phone will make. I think it expects you to enter it in a certain...
