Unfortunately, Brian, you cannot set any of your sounds as ringtones. The only way to get MP3 ringtones on your phone (besides GIN, of course) is to use a program called Bitpim (which doesn't yet support the 950 since it's so new, but they update regularly) and to use it you need to connect your phone w/ a data cable or Bluetooth USB adapter.

Where do I find this Bitpim program when it may be avaliable? I know verizon doesn't support transfer of obex. As well what is GIN oh wait get it now ahhh. Verizon phones are like a slot machine any button you press costs you money haha.

You're gonna have to use a USB only as the bluetooth on the 950 isn't like the 8100's and won't connect to a COM Port on a pc.

Hmmm...interesting. I don't have the 950, I have the 8100, but assumed you could do it via BT on the 950 too. I guess that's just one more reason why I like my 8100 better.

Someone may figure a way to do it, it's not supported by bitpim yet anyway since it's so new. I'd rather transfer files via USB anyway as it's much quicker. The bluetooth being able to connect to a COM port is the only thing i miss about the 8100 lol.

Hey question, I have a 710 but bought it after January... and I want a Samsung 950. What do I say to customer service to have them give me one. I have had to exchange out my 710 like 3 times for manufactures defect issues and I'm getting sick of it, and not setting for a $25 bill credit. Help Please!

So how did i do it.. Well i talked to a high up woman, and well initially my v710 was able to transfer mp3's onto the hardrive. My phone broke and the system was newwer and didn't allow me to do this. So i told them that i paid 300 dollars for this phone and now it can't do what i paid for. Anyways so took about two days to get to the right person. Make sure you right down each person's name extension and last name. Just be somewhat nice i was, and explain yourself because some of them are morons. hope this helps

Good for you. I dealt with someone at VZW who was a moron and an ass. Most are nice, though, so if you give a little charm and work your way up, things can definitely go in your faveor.

😁 Just go to www.walmart.com go to the music page find your song......right mouse click the LISTEN icon ......save target as what ever folder you want it in...... then send it to your telephone number@vzwpix.com........open the pix message........save the file in the sounds section of your A950.......go to your call sounds(tones whatever)....... select sounds not ring tones and there will be the MP3 you just saved from PIX message and it will work as your ring tone.... I promise

Only problem with this method is the system converts it to a .qcp file and reduces the bitrate and quality so the sound isn't as good.

I can save clips to my phones as ring tones but they are saved as *.qcp files. They don't sound as good and the phone won't accept *.mid files.

When you download ringtones they are saved as *.mid files.

Any ideas on how to get them clearer like they were on my V710?

I think we'll all just have to wait until bitpim supports this phone so we can upload mp3's renamed as .mid for good sounding ringers.

You are absolutely correct. As soon as Bitpim includes this phone, which should be soon, that is the best way to do it and get great sounding ringtones. Also, I've never renamed mine on my 8100. Kept them on Bitpim as MP3's, transferred them to phone VERY easily and they work and sound great.

Hmm, no one in howardforums nor myself could get them to work unless we renamed the file to .mid or .qcp. Which software version is on your 8100? I just hope the file system is like the 8100's so i don't have to learn all the tricks again.

Use yahoo to send mp3's to your phone and save it as a ringtone. And yes, you can use sounds to use as ringtones. Trust me =).

How long did it take Bitpim to get the 8100 on its list of usable phones? i was looking at the list of phones and there aren't many samsungs that i saw, this kind of worries me. One of my biggest things is that i want to have quality sounding mp3's as ringers. I'm just seeing what the ETA is on compatibility with my day old 950, lol. Thanks in advance

BTW, the yahoo thing works good enough, for now. 🙂
