The major difference is the external media controls: instead of a spinning scroll wheel surrounded by keys, it has something that looks more like a standard d-pad, with the center key being play/pause, up is "list", and down is for shuffle. Left and right are RW and FF, naturally.
Looking at the internal photos, it does have a dedicated chip behind the d-pad, which is curious. It could mean the d-pad has more functionality than is obvious. It might, for example, be a touch-sensitive area like an iPod clickwheel ...although I...
