Some Software Glitches: Anyone Else? Any Thoughs?

I like this phone, but it appears to be incredibly "buggy" with a lot of software glitches. In paticular, I have noticed a few fundamental glitches on this phone that work just fine on the Moto E815--which has a virtually identical interface. I am a losing confidence in this phone and thinking about returning it. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced these problems, or knows anything further about them:

- Ring and Vibrate concurrently. The manual claims this can be done, by choosing "vibrate" on the master volume details menu. However, there is no such choice. (The Moto E815 does has a ring/vibrate choice on the master volume details menu).

- Key volume cannot be turned off. The lowest key volume does not go beyond "low"...

Most of your issues come from the fact that the v325 has the Verizon UI on it.

The current Verizon UI for the phone doesn't allow the ring/vibrate option, or the shutting of off key volume.

I haven't experience any issues with the ring lights, but I seem to be the exception. The version of the UI on my phone is: R9-1_X_05.28.09P.

If you have a version before this, you can go to a verizon wireless store and get it updated.

I am hoping the next update will include the features that are not yet implemented (ring/vibrate, etc).

Thank you for your comments. Yes, I have the same s/w version ending .09. I do like this phone, it has a terrific RF range and the speakerphone is quite good when tucked under the sun visor in my car so that the microphone is placed directly near my head. The voice recognition feature is outstanding. I like the rubberized grip--it appears like it will hold up well in the long term. Overall, this phone appears to be of sturdy construction, good size, good battery life, good call quality and good hands-free features. It does a good job at just being a solid practical phone without any entertainment bells and whistles.

For those who are keeping track, here are a couple more gitches I noticed:

- Cannot bypass the annoying moto welcom...

I called Motorola and was informed that they disabled the Ring Tones and Vibrate on at the same time since it caused problems with the Phone when they were testing it. Also was informed that they were going to update the manual basically saying that you can have Ring Tones only or Vibrate only but not both at the same time. A friend has one of the new RAZRs from Motorola and she told me that she was not able to have Ring Tones & Vibrate on at the same time and her service is with Cingular. May be a generic problem with the new Motorola Phones.

As far as the Ring Lights it looks like it has something to do with the usb charging device that came with the phone. I have had the problem with the Ring Lights two times now. I tried everyt...

I have a problem on mine where the screen never shut off causing my battery to drain. I found out that if I put the screen brightness anything higher than zero, then it would not time out to the specified ten seconds, 20 secs, etc.

I also have a charge issue. If the phone is powered on and you charge it, the battery Icon shows that it is charging, but sometime its a false indication, because it never charges. If you charge it with the phone off, it works ok. my version is the 09(latest)

I'm on my third Moto V325. The first one
would freeze, lose sound and would not turn
off or on with out removing the battery.
I got the first phone in Dec 05. In Jan
I returned the phone for another one. Had
that one for two days, wasn't happy back
to VZN for phone number three. This one
seems to be a keeper. I read on HF from
a VZN employe. that if the phone anyone
doesn't work go get another one. He had
four E815. So the answer is go back to VZN
and get a phone that works. This has the
08 Firmware and I'm not ready to do an update. I really like this phone holds a signal, good sound nice looking. The vib/ring doesn't
matter to me at all. Getting and receiving
a call is the big issue.

I did close the cover as soon as the phone started to power up, and then the menu came back, enabling me to turn the ring lights on again, but the ring lights did not come back automatically. Anyway, how would the phone know which selection to choose (like beat, or pulse, or whatever)? The ring lights had not been working prior to this. Now do I have to reset the ring light option every time I restart my phone? Hopefully, Version 10 software will handle this. Also, the musical tone when starting the phone stopped working when the starting the phone with the cover open, but it worked when starting the phone with the cover closed. Maybe Version 10 could address this matter also.

Thanks Ron! I just got my phone Friday night and discovered it has the same software "glitch" that many other's seem to have. But found that by either closing the cover right away during power-up, or plugging in the charger restores the ring light's menu. Question...What is/are the "event light's"? I put mine to yes and can't figure out what they do.
Thanks again!

I have the same issue and was going crazy thinking it was only my phone! In fact I returned it back today to verizon and got it replaced with another v325. They claim it works fine- I still need to try it myself with the charger plugged on when I go home. The tech told me that you are supposed to charge it only when its shut off but thats a BS !! I told him this cannot be true..all phone can be charged while they are on so he replaced for me.
As far as the ring light menu- closing the flip right away when the phone is starting up seemed to solve the problem. No I can see all ring light options!
