Not much really. You still have a transflash slot ya know. And you can unlock the OBEX profile.

Isn't the transflash only semi-removable, which means its not made to be taken out all the time. But it has the microSD which is fully removable right?

MicroSD = TransFlash

These are two names for the exactly the same thing...

TransFlash is the SanDisk trademarked product name for the what is now generically referred to as the MicroSD card... (which SanDisk invented)

So if there's no USB connection can you actually connect to your computer without it? Or without the bluetooth, which will probably be crippled?

Yes, there is a nice Transflash Card slot which appears to be easily accessible on the edge of the phone. And not located underneath the battery as with some phones. I wish it had been a miniSD Card used since the Transflash Card is more delicate.
As for unlocking and fully using OBEX profile on this phone, I feel there is more information to be made available on that capability. You can see what happened in that area with the LG VX-8100.
Let's hope that OBEX is fully operational if there is no USB availability. We should know soon.

The A970 Manual located on the Verizon site says the OBEX is not fully functional. So far, there is no USB Cable function reported, that would leave only the Trans-Flash Card. I wonder what limitations are place on that TF Card function? The manual says you can load MP3's on the Trans-Flash Card from the computer and play those MP3's. But what else can be done using the TF Card?

Well the manual does say you can transfer "USER" made videos and photos from your phone to the card. But I wonder if you can transfer pics and stuff from your computer, to the card, to your phone for new wallpaper, and transfer the mp3 from the card to your phone for ringtones? I'm sure Verizon found a way for that not to happen tho.

Also, I found that it was reported that the SCH-a890 did not have USB capability but there were users doing the BitPim thing with the a890 with cable and computer.
Hope the same holds true for the a970.
