More than likely if it were to come to the states, Cingular would have it because of the 850 band. But there are some overseas GSm carriers that use the same band.

Being that Cingular is the "exclusive" company that presented the V3 Razor, more than likely, this will be one of their newest phones. Just remember that the V3 is not insurable, and don't be surprised if these aren't either.

At the same time. I think this one will be insurable being the fact that is is a lower end motorola. I think motorola is going with the pop that the razor got and they want to keep up that flow. It kind of looks like the V8 Slvr so it makes people think it is expensive. 🙂

Cingular won't be celling this phone as they have signed an exclusive deal with Nokia to be the only provider of bar style phones.

Correct, unless the deal with Nokia is broken Cingular will not be selling any bar-style phones other than Nokia. And to comment on the previous post, 800/850 is only used in North America.

Sorry... only c207 is still available to order.Only Nokia bar-style phones can be ordered from the Omaha warehouse. Any other phones you see are just remaining inventory. All corporate stores had inventory pulled, that was at least two months ago. The C-207 is still available as "special order" according to the price matrix for may.

So...This contract is something that is being put in effect...With the current Clamshell phones taking over the market, why in the world would Cingular even go with the contract for Nokia...It's not like it's something they can market as being "awesome"...almost everyone wants a clamshell phone these days.

There is a loophole however, if the device supports XpressMail it will be classified as a 'smartphone' by Cingular which the exclusivity deal does not encompass. It also means it will not be insurable.

how bout the lg9100. I thought that was a flat bar phone? That just came out. but that is me. I could be totally wrong just saw the phone and just read this chat and I got the POS lg9100 and it's flat faced. But oh well... These in my opinion will be coming to cingular, they are going to be the ones that are going to get all these thin phones and take over the market with that, and soon enough all the phones will be the same way, and get smaller and smaller so that sooner or later they will be like putting a necklace on that no one will ever notice... haha... That'd be the day. But the phones seemed to get bigger over the years, and now with these phones are getting smaller again. Atleast for Moto.

The LG F9100 is a slider-style phone so it is an exception (so many loopholes seems that nokia is getting the short end of the stick 🙂), same goes for the Samsung P777 and LG A7110

Nokia is trying to "monopolize" the Cingular lineup by being the only ones to have bar phones, I know of at least several people that would go into a store and ask for an easy to use "bar" phone, if Nokia elliminates all the rest of the lowend bar style phone competition for cingular it could potentially make a lot more money. I just wish that Nokia would stop trying to dominate the bar style market and focus on the clamshell and other formfactors that are proving to be much more popular. I cant wait until the release a flip series 60 phone on Cingular.

I'm not sure about this "contract" that Cingular has to only have bar phones with Nokia. I'm in the SF Bay Area and Cingular offers:

Samsung C207
Siemens CT66
Siemens S66
LG F9100

These are bar phones, right? And, they are not smartphones either. I know that each region has different phones, so if this contract is true, it doesn't apply to the SF Bay Area.

Cingular did sign an agreement with nokia but who's to say what stipulations or loop holes are there. The c207 just changed to EOL (end of life ) in florida this month. Cingular will find a way to get it or one of the new thinly designed now that other carriers will have th V3.

The contract agreement between Cingular and Nokia for Cingular to use Nokia as an exclusive provider of Bar type phones has either been expired/dissolved. With that being said Cingular is free to use any provider for any style of handset.

Actually Manny, any phone is insurable. It's common sense that a carrier wouldnt insure a phone that retails 400$+. If they did I would be "losing" them left and right, paying my 50$ deductible and be sitting high with a new one. Lock Line and other insurance companies will insure your phone for you, of course just like with a more expensive car.. your deductible is going to be more.

The NEW Cingular's core band is actually 850mhz (former AWE towers), they sold most of their 1900mhz to T-Mobile (or at least in the West region).
