I live in lower Wisconsin, where everyone who has verizon is almost always on their "extended network". I am seriously looking at purchasing the LG VX9800, but a big factor to me is the ability to use mobile web. Can i use it on the extended network?

there is no rtt, just 1xrtt...and evdo
you should be able to go to verizonwireless.com and put in your zip code and the coverage map should tell you what the coverage will be

I know what my coverage will be, I just need to know where I can access mobile web from. What if I don't have national access coverage can I still use mobile web with reduced speed? And can I access mobile web on the extended network?

coverage there are 3 data networks if you wanna say that sure... 'D' 1xrtt and EVDO... if your in Ext network you may still have access to 1xrtt if its part of our ext data network... most likely if txt msg works mweb 2.0 will... or go to our website and look of national access/evdo coverage on the map with your zip and that will tell you what kind of is available for data there.

When I was on vacation in Puerto Rico a few weeks ago, I could not access the web on my phone and I was in an extended coverage area. Not saying all extending coverage areas are like this though.

Please ignore most of the other posts. They're not really wrong, but they certainly aren't right.

The real answer is... Maybe. It depends on the local carrier in your area and how their network switch handles your phone connection. Certain areas of the extended network TXT/PIX/FLIX and Mob Web may or may not work. As a whole, while on the extended network, all enhanced features (anything other than voice calls) are at the mercy of the local carrier.

If you currently have a phone that can access mobile web 2.0, try it out. It will have nothing to do with the phone model if it works or not.
