😕

I have the treo 650 w/ verizon and I'm forced to get a data plan (45 bucks!) because otherwise I would pay up alot since I recieve about 500 txt and pic per month. I was told about this phone and I was interested... can anyone help me make up my mind or what else can I downgrade too? treo is more for Docs, real estate, and business people... I know im not using it to its potential. HELP!!!

I would definitely say go with the 9800. It has gotten great reviews and it seems that as far as what you are using the phone for, it is a better match for you than the 650.

Well, my best friend has a Treo650 (albeit from Cingular) and I have a 9800 and there are numerous pros and cons in comparing one to the other. The 9800 is a great phone, it's not perfect, but it's a great phone none-the-less...

For instance, I think that while web browsing is easier on the Treo (mostly due to the touchscreen), the 9800 has a more comfortable keyboard. The 9800 also has a much better selection of games and and the V-Cast games are really neat to show off. As far as expandable memory is concerned, you'll have to use Mini-SD, but they cost just about as much as regular SD cards and even come with adapters, so using them on your computer is no sweat. Mobile IM is also included free on the 9800, so you'll be able to do ev...

Ok. Mobile IM on the 9800 is not free. every message sent and recieved counts as a text message.. unlimited mobile to mobile text messages are not applicable.. also, once you log on to mobile IM it keeps you logged on even if you sign off. So even though you may think its off, you can still be recieving IM's and be charged text messages for them if you dont have a high text messaging plan..

The 9800 is a great phone in many ways--and in theory it should give the Treo a run for its money--but--there are a couple of major issues.
There are different ways to get email with the 9800. WAP email is a pain to use--and that is one way. The other is via wireless sync.
There are problems with email wireless sync with the 9800 phone--so beware.
It doesn't work at all well with aol..but that's probably ture of the Treo as well.
However--important to know that there is a software problem witht the 9800 that does not allow one to insert phone contacts into email that you are sending. In other words, when you are sending email to several people at a time, and want to do so from your phone's contact list--forget it--it doesn't work--eve...

Apples and oranges. I had a Treo600, then 650, then Samsung i730.....ALL of those are PDA's. They help keep you organized, addresses, other applications...etc. I, too, could not justify the data plan and didn't want to fight the MOU fight....so I went with the 9800! So glad I did. I need a phone for calls, and text messaging (and maybe some light net stuff), and I found that while I was paying for all the data, I rarely used it. This phone is NOT a PDA...though it does a good job. The calendar is nice, configurable for repeat events. No real address book for addresses....but you can work around that. If you NEED a PDA/Pocket Computer to read pdf's, or Excel files...this is not for you. Make calls, text messages with and awesome key...

So, even tough it has e-mail(ability) it cannot link with your outlook, is this what you are saying?

What is the "Minutes of Use fight" to which you refer? This was referenced as a challenge in Howard Forums thread about the Treo and I have never heard of it. What is it and why is it so hard to get?
