Never Buy it, when it comes OUT!
You cant always buy a phone right after it is released becuase it is going to have a lot of bugs that are going to have to be worked out. You need to give it a few months before the phone can work to its full capabilities. Look at the vx8100 when it came out everyone was upset with this phone, now after all the updates this phone might be the best phone outthere right now. with so much potential. I want a 9800 too, becuase it has that SIDEKICK look but im gonna wait to see if they can work those bugs out!

I agree SHIVA. I have only heard great reviews regarding the 9800. jr9, have you heard anything that makes you hesitant to buy it? I think LG has created a very solid phone.

I am extremely pleased with my 9800. Even though I've only had it a short time, I do not feel I have made a mistake. I see no reason to change my decision.

Yeah what bugs???
I can say that it lacks certain functionality things, but that is more of design flaw rather than a bug....what things you ask? Well not being able to use the speaker phone when the thing is closed is one. The other thing, which really bugs me the most, is that the fact this phone is made as a communicator, but yet you can only store 50 received/sent messages on it.

well those sound like more personal prefrences rather than flaws with the phone, and with that said those things wouldnt be changed anyway. They cant give it all in one package or else you'll never have anything to buy in the future. Perfect example is the speakerphone thing... as soon as the next model comes out that has speaker with the phone closed, everyones gonna say "yeah thats important, I need to buy that one now". Believe me the VZW phones selection SUCK, compared to at&t, nextel, but we are with VZW for the service, not the phones. Anyone says anything to me and I ask them when the last phone call they answered underground on the subway was...then they shut up. the 9800 is the best VZW phone so far, and I have owned over 10 p...

The nextel phones dont have all the bells and whistles, although a lot of them do now including sd card capabilities, button flip to open the handset and so on. But my point is that the nextel phones are made to last. They are a more solid built phone compared to almost any VZW phone. Motorola is told by the companies how they want there phones to be made, and with how much money to do it. You cant tell me that a motorola from VZW is equal to a Motorola from Nextel.

It's to bad we are stuck with this or that service to have this or that phone.
However the tunnel in Chesapeak bay was new to my wife and she called me when she was going into the tunnel she main tained a connection with me in Oregon for about a minute or two. We don't experiance dropped calls as my son does with his T mobile and Cingular equipment.
Verizon keeps my business because i can depend on the connection.
