Carrying this thing in your pocket?

Another user at a different forum complains that the 9800 is just to big to be carried in a pocket or on a belt clip...but the same user posted pictures of it next to an 8100 and it looked not much thicker than the 8100....
...so for those who have it, how is it carrying in your pocket?

Hey,

I just got this phone to try for two weeks (as i was going to wait for the RAZR). Lets just be clear about some things:

1) The phone is the same length, if not shorter than most verizon cell phones (when you include the antenna). One of the benefits to a phone like ths is that without an antenna, it does not get "stuck" in your pocket because teh antenna catches

2) It is as thick as the 6100, 8100, etc...When this phone sits in your pocket, it juts out no more than most other verizon phones

3) What is different is that overall, its has more volume so that it takes up more space over the same amount of space than other phones.

All that being said, people who try and dismiss the phone because of its size are, excuse me here...

Thanks for the great reply....i had a feeling that is what it was...it just didn't make sense that pictures of it comparing it to the 8100 looked almost as thick, just maybe slightly a bit more.

...bottom line....would you have any discomfort carrying this phone in your pants or jacket pocket?

No more than the 6100 or 8100.

I have it and the size was a huge concern for me. The size of the actual phone is no issue in my pocket because like it has been pointed out... its about as thick as most others. The phone is downright heavy though. Thats not a huge issue for me and being a guy, it still fits and feels fine in my pocket.

I was worried about holding the phone to my ear on a long phone call. I thought it would honestly feel heavy compared to my old samsung a670, but the phone has a nice fit in your hand. I don't hold it with the standard two - three fingers plus your thumb and having it pushed away from your palm. It fits great right in your palm and because of that support I can't tell the difference in weight when I'm on a long phone call.

Thanks everyone....not too worried about holding it to my ear because I will get a BT headset for it.

Thanks for the info.

Just so everyone knows, this phone is 5.1 oz, which is much lighter than any PDA phone (including a Treo) offered by Verizon.

I personally wouldn't call this phone heavy; it just has a solid feel to it.

In cae you didn't know this phone is not a PDA. It was not intended to be a PDA, jus tbecause it has a keyboards means nothing. So for a cell phone it is kind of heavy.

I think the users point was, if you can carry your PDA with you on your belt or in your pocket then you should be fine with this phone.

I own an Axim X50v and its weight is 6.2oz a full ounce more than the 9800...for me, carrying the X50v around is not bad at all.
