Nokia 6682 / 6681
DCT3 or DCT4
Ok, I'm finally getting around to unlocking my 6682, using this site:

which has worked for me thus far on 5 other Nokias, but failed me the first time I tried to unlock my 6682. I'm not 100% sure what the DCT3/4 thing is, apparently either a generation of technology of Nokias, or a split of technology. I'm not sure.
Either way, I think I can figure out how to unlock it, but I need to determine if the 6682 is DCT3 or DCT4. Anyone know?

Ok, so found out that it's a firmware flashing categorization, and that technically Symbian phones are neither DCT3 nor 4, but they are categorized as 4. . .

Alas, tried a couple new codes - failed. I'm not sure what the right combo is, but I'm down to 2 tries. . .

Don't try anything with DCT3 or DCT4. You won't succeed.
I was just on a trip overseas and they had all sorts of software to unlock Nokia phones. I called around and checked and finally found a place that would do it. When I went there, I had a long discussion with the technician there.
Basically, they use a software called J.A.F. by Odeon. Along with that they need a cable that plugs in the back of the phone where the battery goes and something called a Griffen Box. A pretty penny of an investment in all.
The whole idea is that they will reflash the phone memory with standard Nokia software (usually upgraded from what you have) and remove Cingular off the system completely.

Yeah, I found that out eventually, though I also saw a few places where it said I only had 3 tries to unlock, which I've already used. I'll probably have to find a place that can unlock via USB or Griffen box or whatever.

Just tell Cingular that you will be going overseas and request an unlock code. It shouldn't be hard to do. Or, if you accidentally lock your phone up to the point where it's unoperable, just call cingular and tell them that it's asking for a pim code or something like that. they should be able to unlock the phone right then & there.
