I've had my phone with the new 4.62.0 firware for a little over a week now, and the first "couple" days..........were uneventful.
In the last few days, Ive had numerous "white screens".......most seem to be when I'm in bluetooth, but a couple seem related to moving from one application to another.......
Yesterday.....I experienced a really "freaky one".......I was trying to connect my bluetooth headset with the phone and it white screened, reset itself & when it rebooted, it had switched themes............most everything else was the same.......
Has ANYONE.....had any similar problems as mentioned above, or anyones that were not mentioned????????
vpu2....OUT!!!!

I wish Cingular had not ruined this phone
...

New firmware. No problems. Love the phone.

ok today for some reason i received another replacement phone from cingular...i checked the firmware and it was the new 4.6.2..i was sooo happy. i transfered everything over to the new phone and checked everything to make sure it worked...well when i tried to install a app onto my 512 kingston mem card it wouldnt install it..it would freeze up. ok no biggie maybe its the app..so i checked the camera. i took a pic and it says saving pic..well it freezes up and about 30 secs later it says system error. i tried the video and same thing it wouldnt let me record more than 2 secs before it freezes up..but evreything works fine if i save it to the phone mem or use the 64 card...i came to the conclusion the phone was not liking the 512 mem card..im ...

Me and my old F/W and 32k SIM card just keep right on keepin on 🙂.
Best phone I've ever owned, and with the Yahoo to Go app, where I can upload my photos directly to my online album truly make this a great phone..sorry everyone is having problems. Just so you know, the N80 will not be offered by Cingular, but directly from Nokia, for around $600. I think I will keep what I have 🙂

I've had 2 phones with the new firmware......
The first one, had several issues, although I don't believe you can blame them all on the firmware, it could have been one of the "lemons" that are inevitably produced in a product line that is done that way........mass produced that is...
The main issue was "white screening", freezing up and resetting itself........the very last time, it was as if the phone was possessed...it white screened, and when it rebooted itself.......it had switched themes....... I also had bluetooth problems....where if I connected a headset, it would not transfer the call to the headset, even thought it showed connection......and it would shutdown bluetooth, when I "disconnected the headset......instead of just t...

By the way.......for any of those who hate the phone.....and believe the firmware is the main problem..........send it to nokia repair center.......they will either.....reflash the firmware........ or send you an unbranded and "unlocked" phone..... which is not a bad trade off.....my brother in-law...........is using a nokia 6630 & 6670 with cingular.......not having any issues........setting up cingulars media net is simple, I've done it on my AT&T 6620, and works
How is this possible? Have you actually had it work for somebody? When I called Nokia directly they told me that they were under contract to NOT unbrand this phone.

Before the new firmware came out, nokia was replacing the phone with "unbranded" phones.....
They were "white" instead of silver.....but I have not heard complaints from that phone, unlike this one...........

I'm still on the original f/w and 32k sim.
No problems at all ever since I went to the 32k, what about 4 or 5 months ago now.
Anyway, haven't dropped in here in a while, was reading this thread and noticed your name.
Thought I would say hey.
Sounds like the new f/w is worse than the original. Even with the clearing of call logs and copy sim messages (which I don't have anymore) those two pale in comparison to what I am reading of peoples complaints with the new f/w.

I don't come here much either Joe. Everyone complains about this or that, especially the F/W and I, like you are still using my 32k and have had zero issues with the old F/W. Thats why we have an awesome phone.
The fella that figured out initially that the entire problem was the 64k sim card causing issues with the Cingular branded phone is one smart dude 🙂
Did you see the link I posted that has some of the pics I have taken with my phone? Have you checked out the Yahoo to Go app? It is a great program to have on your phone.

Hi all... just getting back to this list as well. I wanted to mention that I am still using the original firmware, 512 mem and the 64k card. The problems seemed to have stopped. I have had zero incidents for a couple of months now. Logs stay after restart, no more unexpected shut-offs and bluetooth is (always had been) working great. Just wanted to throw in my experience so far... 😎

Not the ones you are having, but I am pretty sure the phone is intermittentl powering itself off.
I am not sure which phone Cingular ha butchered worse - the 6682 or the SE Z520a
...
Cingular did not butcher anything. Just look at European forums describing issues with the 6681
...
I was given the re-released model by my company, and have had very few "issues". Most common problem is when browsing, either MEdia net, Opera, or Opera Mini, if I exit the browser and immediately go back in, I get a "Memory Full" error. Minor glitch, all settings are set to clear cache, cookies etc. upon exit, but I can go back in after about a minute. THE KICKER?! 👿 So... I send my original phone to Nokia's Ft. Worth center for repair (aside from the known issues, my memory card door switch had become dislodged, and would no longer accept any mem. card) and they received on 12/16. I get the phone back on 01/19 and lo' and behold the f*ckin' thing still has the same problem PLUS, I don't know who else noticed this, but the re-released...

I have the 6682 with an old firmware on it, and would like to exchange for one with a new firmware. Do I go through the Cingular website? Or is there a phone number that I call? Thanks.
