Is it discontinued or not....

I am still waiting for this phone to be re-released at Cingular. I don't want to try to buy an unbranded one at the moment because I am a legacy AT&T customer with a TDMA account, and don't want to try to migrate under any kind of complications.

With this in mind, I have been keeping a very close eye on this forum, and I have been calling business care every couple of weeks looking for any kind of update. The only worthwhile updates I tend to get are on here, but I too noticed that Phonescoop is now listing this phone as discontinued.

My question is simply whether or not this phone will be back, and when. Now the best info I can find here in the forum is that it will be back, and mid December is the time frame. Does anyone have...

This doesn't answer the question, but two different Best Buy's in Orange County, CA had the phone on display this past weekend. It was too much of a madhouse to ask if they actually had them, but this was the first time I had seen them there. Only one had power, and it had the same firmware as the one I got from Cingular's website when they were first available.

Oh, and by the way, I got a 32k SIM, and the contacts and log issues have been gone since.

I ordered one for a customer last week, and I checked up on it - it arrived. I also have a friend that just got one. Both from Cingular, both appear to working just fine. I just may have to order one myself, once I find out if there's still any problems with the software, that is.

mine says

V 3.01.1
18-06-05
RM-58
Nokia 6682

and It pisses me off on a daily basis.

constantly ask me if I want to copy contacts to sim
yada yada yada... thats the usual...

but mine keeps freezing up and not letting me answer the phone.

buttons stop responding and none seem to work while the thing is ringing...

I Know a guy here in Tamps that is an authorised Nokia service tec but he hasnt ordered the "dongle" for the phoen yet.

he did tell me that there is not an upgraded flash yet. so all I can do is "hard reset" the phone internally.

still hasnt helped.

You say that you ordered one for a customer. I was just wondering how do I get someone to order one for me if everyone I talk to says that they are not available??

He lies...okay maybe thats a little strong. Maybe he just tells a story thats not true.

These phones will be back very very soon. They just want to test them and make sure that the problems people are reporting are taken care of.

Actually, I work in a Cingular b2b dept, and yes, I did indeed order one for a client. I also have a friend who ordered one (through Cingular), and called me on it raving about how great the phone was.

Well how can I get a Cingular rep to do this for me when the phone is listed as unavailable. FYI, I have a foundation number associated with my account.

I also have noticed that those on here who have said the phone is available at so&so site, I have looked (just for kicks), and have not found it available.

One last thing that is slightly unrelated. I noticed that Cingular has launched PTT..since this phone has the capability, will it be implemented on this model??

No PTT on this phone, at least, it's not going to be supported. I suppose if one felt like hacking a bit, and/or adding the PTT feature, they could see if it worked. I'd be surprised though.

Are you stil a Blue cust, Starman? I would be able to order one, but only for an Orange customer. You COULD migrate, then get one of these, & return whatever phone you got at migration... 😉

I just checked again, btw, the phone is instock, but again - only through direct channels, not the retail replenishment centers.

Yes, I am still a Blue customer, and to make things a tad more complex, I am still using a TDMA phone (nokia 6360). I am still rather sold on this phone, so hoping that I can get it after all is said and done.

Japhy,
I would love to order this phone! I have been calling b2b every weekday for about 5 weeks now and always get the "coming soon" reply. Dallas, TX here. I just migrated and returned the 6102, and tried to order 2 days ago from Letstalk.com and got email twice that Cingular had rejected my Upgrade/Extend Contract request. Almost ready to order from Ebay for 305 and 50 s/h, but Cingular gave me a price of 240,and would rather order from them. Can you help? Desperate here...

Can you please tell us what the software version is, on those phones?

Press #*0000# to get the firmware info, and please post it here, I know many would like to compare to see if it's different from the version we have, and may have corrected the issues, some have experienced.....

Thanks....

As of this morning, I went to my local Walmart and while passing though the electronics section, I saw the 6682 newly displayed for $197 with a 2 year contract and $250 with one year. I did not get to talk to anyone to see if these were newly updated or anything because no one was manning the counter that early in the morning. But I do know the phones were not on display as of a week or two ago so they must have just gotten them. I will probably go back later today or tomorrow. I had one of the early phones with all the problems and returned it. I really would love to get one now if these are truely fixed. So maybe check your local Walmart too and see if they are carrying them.

An update after getting the phone one week ago at Walmart here.... The firmware version on this phone appears to be:
V 3.01.1
18-06-05
Rm-58
Nokia 6682

I have had zero problems with the phone at all. No lost call logs, no asking to import numbers from the sim, nothing. I can even lock the phone from the keyboard as stated in the book. That feature didn't work on the old phone I had.
I am very satisfied with it. And it's working fine with a 64k sim card they put in when I bought it.
