if you can stand the form factor and crazy keypad, and poor mp3 playback quality, you can still get the nokia 7610 on letstalk.com as well

btw, it's gone now.

interesting that they still sell the 6230, which cingular has discontinued due to many problems, and never decided to carry the 6230i 850 version.

Is this phone really that buggy? It seems that it is the big topic of conversation, but it also sounds like most people feel that a 32k sim fixes all problems? If a person is running a 32k sim, will they actually see problems or not?

I really do like the size and features of this phone if it is not really that tough to avoid the problems. Also, is there a silent majority out there with NO problems?

I ordered today from Wirefly so I hope they are still shipping this phone. I went to 3 local Cingular stores here in SD and everyone had a demo (brick) unit but none had any stock and two specifically indicated that they have never received any in stock.

I wonder if all this talk about removing the phone from LetsTalk and the Cingular site is more a factor of inventory than bugs...

LetsTalk.com had the phone on their site about 4 weeks ago, but later that same night (when I'm ready to order) it was gone from their site. I was able to order a 6682 by calling in instead of doing it online. When I called, I asked why it wasn't on the site anymore and was told that the phones disappear from Letstalk.com when they are out of stock...but they took my order anyway because they were getting some more in later that week...which they did, and I got the phone 5 days after my initial order. When I spoke with LetsTalk.com Friday about exchanging the phone because of the problems I was having, they said they were NOT selling the phone anymore because of the problems it was having. I was given an option of getting a different phone a...

I think very, very few companies would stop selling a hot phone because of a few bugs that are minor bugs to the majority of users. My guess is that either they are actually running out of them (hot sales) or they are tired of eating the cost of higher than normal returns (due to the bugs).

I'm also guessing it doesn't help keep the return rate low when it seems that all Cingular support and stores can say is "return the phone for a new one", even though they have to be smart enough to know that this does not solve the problems.

Does Nokia have a good history of allowing downloads of firmware to their phones? Surely this isn't uncommon. None of the announced future phones look much better to me than the 6682 and the "bugs" don't seem like much of a bother to me (my phone is almost never turned off and I think the 6682 can have the antena turned off for flights without power cycling.)

If the phone is truly dropped so early, rather than fixed and made popular, replacement could get tricky. That worries me more than these relatively trivial bugs (not good but not life altering either compared to the features and form factor which are pretty unique.)

I am also a little worried about Wirefly's delivery, but we'll see how that turns out 🙂 A small phone like thi...
