Talked to Nokia About Problems

Hello

I called Nokia this evening and talked to someone about the problems I've had with my 6682. Here are the problems I described to the customer support person.

1. The call log completely clears itself out whenever I restart the phone.

2. It asks me to re-import the contacts on my SIM card when I go in to the contact manager for the first time after a restart.

3. It has crashed on me a few times, but nothing consistent.

4. My MMC card went corrupt while I was using it causing me to loose everything on it.

Her name was Barbie and she explained that he had not heard anything about problems with this phone; and, that several people at their office had one and were loving it.

She also talked to a guy in technical support...

Mattindy77,

Yes, i have heard differently. In general, depending on the Nokia rep, they will tell you differently. The first Nokia support rep i talked to, said pretty much the same thing. & i was getting ready to send it back, but i had a few questions a/b sending it back so i called again & got another rep. This time the rep said they know a/b the issues & are working on a firmware upgrade to address the issues & that i should call back in a/b 2wks (more or less 1 wk has gone by so far). Now he could've said that to get me to shut up, but for whatever the reason i'm taking his comments as true & will call back next week. On the assumption that he was correct i figure sending in my phone at this time will just have them flash it w/ the ...

Last week I spoke to a Nokia and discussed the call log problem. At first the rep said he never heard of the problem. When I persisted and asked to talk to a tech rep, he put me on hold and consulted with more knowledgeable people. He then reported that Nokia was aware of the problem, had escalated the issue, and the trouble shooting so far pointed to a software and/or sim problem. He said my case was included in the trouble report and he expected a solution or update in 2 weeks.

Earlier I spoke to Cingular and asked if they could look this problem up in their data base. This rep said there is no record of the problem. This is of course ridiculous. I personally had 3 conversations with them about this problem and had a replacement phone s...

I spoke with a tech rep about a week ago about these problems and he told me that I'd have to send the phone back to them to be fix the call log problem. He also said there was no fix for the sim card contact request.
Needless to say, I'm not sending them my phone for 5-7 days.

I know what you mean. I'm not comfortable sending off my phone for that long, especially since I have loaned out my old phone to a friend who managed to dunk his phone in a glass full of Diet Coke.

I think that if I wait long enough that n update will be released and the folks at Cingular can take care of it for me.

I'm having the same problem with both 6682's that I've had. It's definitely the 64k sim card that is causing an incompatibility with this unit. I also spoke to Cingular (which had no idea and asked me to speak to Nokia). I spoke to nokia and they told me I needed to talk to Cingular regarding this. I then told him that I'm not the only person with this problem and if he goes into phonescoop.com and check out the forum, he will notice that many others have the same prob. He did tell me that the new firmware was available, but since I don't have any Nokia service centers near me, I would have to ship the phone into them. Which I am not going to do b/c this problem is not worth the trouble & stress it's going to cause me trying to find ou...

8886654228...I called and spoke to a tech as well and I was told that there is no software update at this time because the phone is too new. But he gave me the information needed to fix but you have to transfer all your information saved on the phone to your pc because the update will erase everything on the phone included any downloaded applications. I haven't tried this yet. Since I am still within my 30 days I am going to exchange it and if it continues after this exchange then I will settle for this quick fix..

Let me know if this works or not.

*#7370#
It will ask if you want to reset
Yes
Passcode is the Nokia password unless you changed it then you will use your password
It will format the phone

This is supposed to fix those issues and in fact the tech almost promise that it would.

Good luck to all

isn't that just the code for a hard reset. Seems that doesn't work. And why would it... the firmware needs an upgrade, not put back to factory install asis.

I don't have the answers for everything but this is what a Nokia tech told me today. It doesn't hurt to try it.. But he said that as soon as they get the firmware that you can take the phone to a local Nokia repair center and they can update the software

Just got off phone with Nokia. They are well aware of the problem and are currently trying to whip up a solution to be transmitted OTA. The tech said please be patient and to give them at the most 2 weeks and if we haven't heard anything to call back then.

Thanks Icy, I had a gut feeling from the start that all these problems would eventually become made aware by Nokia and that they would have to work on a firmware upgrade because they invested too much in this phone to not try and perfect it. I'll PATIENTLY wait for a firmware upgrade for this beast lol.

It will come soon. Compared to what Verizon INTENTIONALLY does to it's phones, I consider these to glitches to be very minor.
