They HAVE to accept it if you are in your first 30 days. And even if not, with the mfg. waranty... SOMEone has to fix it if it is not functioning correctly. I would like to think Nokia will upgrade the firmware. Now... how that would work... any mods Cingular made to the firmware, if they don't bring the phone back... I wonder...

Personally, I am glad I got mine. I might think they would carry it again in the future. I could be wrong. When I was calling about it's availability some time back... When I mentioned I had a 6620 they said they would be discontinuing that because it was not a very good seller. I guess a lot of people don't like highend phones ??? Go figure.

I highly doubt this phone has been pulled already. It hasn't been out long enough. It took much longer to pull the MPX220. An those guys at Cingular aren't always the sharpest knives in the drawer. Having said that, if you couldn't wait on the 6682, why not get the 6620 over the 6230?

It was a phone I already had and wanted to try something new...I am still hoping I can find a 6682 at some 3rd party retailer somewhere

I'll tell ya what else, I hated the shape and feel of the 6620 (including the joystick - could snag on things). I got the 6682 and like its form factor a lot better.

I was checking Nokia and Cingular almost everyday, calling maybe every other. It wasn't on the Cingular site on Sept. 12th AND it on the Nokia site either, under phones or expected soon where it had been. Did a search on Nokia for 6682 and it pulled it up saying available at Cingular. Called them immediately for fear it would go like hotcakes.

As Icy said, should be back, cb

the issues people have been describing are relatively minor. likely, these can be easily addressed with a firmware update. what is likely is that cingular has suspended selling these and shipped back their remaining stock. also likely that nokia has asked for 3-4 weeks to correct the problem, which explains the lead times at 3rd party retailers like amazon.com and letstalk.com.

not an insider, just someone who has worked with products that require firmware updates after release and been in situations where products are temporarily suspended.

like i said in another thread, nokia put a lot of $$ into this phone, like all others, and expects to se...

Interesting...
When the phone was released on Sept. 12th, you could not buy it direct from Nokia ONLY frm Cingular, if I am not mistaken. I visited the link you sent and you can now buy it from Nokia. I suppose maybe since Cingular has, at least temporarily, suspended sales.

So Sara, you could buy the phone from Nokia, for $599 *ouch* Mine was $269 through Cingular with a 2 year contract.

PPL,

I'm hoping that this phone has not been pulled/discontinued........ There was another Nokia phone that Cingular was going to sell a while back, it was on the site for "ONE DAY" and then was listed as "Discontinued" on this site....................does anyone remember the 7610??????

I called Nokia, today, Demanded an explanation, and talked to a supervisor who promised to investigate, and call me, back, he actually did, left his number( I was unavailable at the time), called left him a msg, asking to let me know what he has found out.........

Will keep you posted...... 🙄

Wow what are the major issues people have had with the phone. I did notice cingular pulled it from their site, however I ordered mine today through customer service. Should I cancel?

There are no major issues. Upon power off/on, and not always, it clears call log and asks to copy contacts to sim. Should you cancel, up to you. I am happy with mine, minor issues aside which should get fixed eventually with a new release of firmware. Maybe reads some more posts and make your decision.

Not sure how you were able to order it. I spoke to a CSR at Cingular about 2 hours ago, and they told me that they were out of stock, and had no idea when they would be getting more. I would be very interested to know whether or not your order goes through.
