Audio Player Formats

Jun 15, 2007, 11:37 PM
I have several questions about music file support on the V635.

1. What file formats, in addition to MP3, does it support?.

2. If it supports additional formats is there a limit to the support, such as not playing anything ripped at 160 kbps stereo but playing it if it had been ripped at 128 kbps stereo? This question also applies to MP3 support.

I'm getting a microSD card ready for my wife and don't have the phone in hand to test what it supports. Putting together the tunes for the card is going to take some time so I want to get started but do not want to fill it up with songs the phone won't play.

After some poking around I found a media development guide for this unit. It is old, dates back to when it the V635 introduced, version 1.00. At that time MP3 was limited to no more than 65kbps. However, this is in the context of ringtone use of the clip. I've gone ahead and ripped some files at 128kbps and when the device arrives tomorrow I'll see if they play.

Got hold of the handset today. It plays MP3s ripped at 128kbps without a problem.
