Does the i730 continually link to the internet/EVDO network?

I'm mostly interested in using the i730 for the PDA and cell phone functions without signing up for the internet service. Does anyone know if the i730 continually attempts to link to the internet like the Treo? Or can you turn that feature off?

I don't want to get caught at the end of the month with a huge cell phone bill, b/c the i730 was linked to the internet on a per minute basis.

Yes you can turn the EVDO off (disconnect). Then when you attempt to connect to the Internet it re-establishes the connection.

No way around it, huh? I was wondering.... what if I disabled the Wi-fi and evdo and purchased an SD/IO Wi-fi card. Can I use that to access the internet w/o being cahrged by Verizon or having to subscribe to their expensive DATA Plan? There's just gotta be a way to beat the system !
