ON page 148 and 149 of the user manual it states the I730 supports the following profiles
SDAP service discovery application profile, FTP file transfer profile,
GAP generic access profile,
HFP hands free profile
HSP headset profile,
HID human interface device profile(bluetooth keyboard only)
OBEX object exchange profile
OPP object push profile,
SPP serial port profile,
and activesync using SPP

I never thought I'd see a veizon phone with a full feature set for BT

I might have to buy this now

Here's what is says on the Verizon site
"*The i730 supports Bluetooth Profiles for wireless headsets, hands-free accessories, file transfer and synchronization with compatible PC's. It does not support all object exchange (OBEX) profiles. Accessories sold separately. See Bluetooth for details."

Forgive me, I am not a techie. Will this make the Sammy work any better with my 2004 acura tl? I understand I will be able to use BT, but the directory of contacts will likely not sync... just curious.

It's not quite a full feature set...it doesn't support the Bluetooth DUN Profile, therefore, no using this phone as a bluetooth modem. The Audiovox XV6600 DOES have the DUN profile, though, if you want a bluetooth device that works as a modem, and also has broadband access.

I work for Verizon WDTS (Wireless Data Technical Support) and I've been training our reps on this device for the last couple of weeks. If I had to pick one device that we support to use personally, it would be this one.

Ivpro, what makes you prefer this phone over the xv6600? also, do you happen to know if it is possible to use the internet to chat through programs like AIM and MSN so it considered data transfer as opposed to txt messaging?

There are a couple of reasons I prefer this device to the XV6600...the first is the slider. The XV6600 slider tends to get loose, whereas this slider seems a little more solid, as there is a spring in it. I think the slider on this device will last longer than the XV6600 slider. I also like the keyboard on this device better than the XV6600 keyboard. This device also has a newer build of Windows Mobile 2003 SE, that includes SMTP authentication, which previous versions of Windows Mobile did not have. Finally, the i730 has more memory than the XV6600.

You can use the data network to chat through MSN Messenger and AIM. An MSN client comes built into the device, and I'm sure there are plenty of 3rd party AIM clients that are downloadable for...

Ivpro, two questions for you... first, are there any plan for support (patch) of the BT DUN profile?

Are there any hacks or anything out there that will make this phone pair with my BMW (DUN BT) handsfree system!? -I can get it to pair, but each call (incoming or outgoing) will only work handsfree for 5-15 seconds then the call transfers back to the handset!?

Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

There are no plans that I know of. As far as we know, this was a mutual decision between Verizon and Samsung, so I don't think Samsung is in any rush to make the DUN profile available.

As far as hacks or any way of making the phone pair with your BMW...it sounds like it pairs successfully, and the device does support the handsfree profile, so it should be working. For support, I would suggest calling BMW if you haven't already. They should be able to assist you with this issue.
