Life after the release of the i730...M7000

When the i730 gets released, many i730 forum addicts may go into withdrawals. No more heated debates over release dates, Wi-Fi/no Wi-Fi, camera/no camera, is So and So really a Verizon Rep or not, and most important, should an expensive case for an expensive phone be compared to a BMW or a condom?

Well there is good news. Samsung just announced a new EVDO, Pocket PC, sliding QWERTY Keyboard phone: the SPH-M7000

Looks pretty cool. Initially it'll be released only on Korea, but then...?

I heard from a friend who knows a guy whose sister is dating a guy whose uncle knows a guy who cleans the bathrooms at the Verizon retail store in West Hollywood tha...

"SPH" by default means SPRINT. All the Samsung phones for Verizon are tagged SCH.

So the sprint guys should have a field day with the forums...

I thought (possibly incorrectly) that Sprint uses T-CAS (tin cans and string) for their mobile system.

(That's probably why their tech guys can't figure it out,...it's too complex a system.)

Sprint just announced the soon to be sprint EVDO launch, city by city. They will need a few phones to go with that network. Stands to reason that this could be the big splash?

I used to love those tin cans as a kid, not a bad way to get a new phone company started...on the cheap.

Good point about Sprint going EVDO. I'd seen the article, but forgot about it when I wrote the message. I think they were hoping to have it at least partially up by Summer 06, although I think the article said the service would be spotty even within the various markets.

I had the Treo 600 when it first came out from Handspring. Sprint was the only company that had the phone then. I was already with Verizon, but I wanted to give Sprint a try because of the phone and their rates, which were by far the best at the time.

It ended up taking 5 days before Sprint could get the phone programed for basic phone and web service, spending about 3-5 hours a day on the phone with them, mostly on hold during the hand-offs.
