Verizon must not be the brightest bulb on the tree.

Ooooooooooook.
So let me get this straight.
They piss off thousands of Bluetooth users by disabling the majority of profiles on the Treo 650 (which, by the way, the box claims to support File Transfer and one other profile, can't remember which...) phone as well as the v710...

Then they release a phone that's WiFi capable?

And to top it all off... this phone will be Bluetooth crippled as well...

These people must have complete idiots working for them...

I've been a Verizon customer for a long time, but ever since I started getting into their higher end phones, I'm considering switching to Cingular.

One other thing.

(found at the bottom of the i730 coming soon page)
*The Samsung i730 supports Bluetooth Profiles for wireless headset, hands-free accessories, file transfer and synchronization with compatible PC’s. It does not support all profiles for object exchange (OBEX). Accessories sold separately. See verizonwireless.com/bluetooth for details.

It said the 650 supported file transfer also, but there is only object push.

Someone should sue for false advertising.

I'm curious as to what kind of tree grows Light bulbs?

And, thatalso raises the question...

Do YOU work for Verizon?

He never said "Verizon must not be the brightest bulb THAT GROWS on the tree. That was your assumption. What tree has bulbs on it? Ding, Ding, Ding? A Christmas tree! YOU must work for Verizon.

verizon must be doing something right . they are the richest wireless company out there and consistantly have better service than the competition. you being mad because they don't do what you want does not make them stupid or dim . hop the fence and check the grass , they know you'll be back

I guess it's not possible to install new profiles then? I thought there was a way to install the stereo headset profile for example.

Go ahead...Go to Cingular...you'll be back at Verizon because first and foremost, this thing has to be a good phone. It has to not drop calls. It has to sound good. Every time I've strayed from Verizon I went back to them because the other companies couldn't match the quality of Verizon. Get mad at them if you will but eventually you'll be back. No, I don't work for Verizon.

The truly sad thing is that you are right. It would be really nice if there were at least one other company with a network as good as Verizon's so that they would have better competition. Sure there are plenty of other mobile phone companies out there, but none I would leave Verizon for (at least not yet).

*sigh* I guess this means having to continue waiting an eternity for phones, and having to use crippled equipment just to get good call service. Since Wi-Fi hot spots will never be as ubiquitous as cell phone service areas, we can't even look to Skype to save us. Guess it's either Verizon or dropped calls.

I don't think it has anything to do with being bright but it has everything to do with being greedy. From a business stand point I get it from an ethical standpoint I can't say that I agree. I had a camera phone before I purchased the i730 and they conveniently disabled the ability to transfer pictures between phones via IR. This is the same thing, they want you to pay for their service as opposed to using the built in features. The EVDO network is currently better than Cingular's data network, but the i730 is excellent and it can't be found on any gsm/gprs network. With the exception of the i730 I would have to say that Cingular has a much better selection of phones, however I wouldn't trade my i730 for anything.
