Can someone please explain the voice dial (VoiceSignal) implementation on this phone? What does speaker-independent mean?

My ideal would be to download all my ACT contacts and have the ability to voice dial anyone without recording the name for every contact. Is this just a dream?

No it is not a dream. If you utilize PhoneScoop's glossary on the left hand column you would see Speaker Independent Voice Dialing means exactly what it sounds, you DO NOT have to train in. It understands basic phonetics. Therefore, it is independent of YOU, the SPEAKER. Go to a VZW store and play with the Samsung a890, it is probably the closest representation of what will be in the i730, as they are both powered by Voice Signal and the a890 is one of the newest to the VZW/Samsung Family. (When you get there, hold down the star key to activate, then follow the prompts.)

You wouldn't happen to know if VoiceSignal will work with a Bluetooth headset, would you?

It works when using the bluetooth headset on the v710 so I'm sure it would work on the i730.

Good to know. I'm slowly but surely moving away from buying the Treo as this device just seems to have it all. Not having voice dial via Bluetooth is a major drawback, not to mention the fact that you need pencil-thin fingers to press the keys on a Treo. Thanks!

Is Voice Signal software you can buy, or is it native to the phone's hardware? I'm leaning toward the i730, but the VX6600 has some features that I like. It's my understanding that voice recognition is not native to the VX6600. If Voice Signal can be loaded onto the VX6600, It would make it more attractive.
