noone can really say until the i730 comes out

But here are some pros of each
- i-730 more internal memory. 128 megs 64 of which are dedicated to the rom. Treo only has 32

- i730 evdo compatible treo is not

- treo more programs available

I suspect many of the opinions as to which phone is better may come down to choosing sides between Palm OS and Windows Mobile.

As for phone features themselves, the i-730 gets nods for EV-DO, and the form factor is only slightly larger than the Treo, and is smaller than other Windows-based PDA phones.

As for myself, I have an iPAQ, so moving to the i-730 would be easier than moving to the Treo, even though I was poised to do so until I read about the i-730.

From what I know windows is much better. I was told that the software palm uses when you sync to your computer is third party. So you have palm software to third party and then to windows XP or whatever you use. I here windows mobile uses third party software also but its from windows to third party back to windows. This is what a customer told me who was looking to buy the Audiovox 6600 rather than the treo. Also he was saying palm users sometimes lost data in the transfers and that overall its just a pain.

Its funny to see how misinformed people are:

1) There are just as much software available for PPC as Palm

2) I have both and I can tell you that Palm more stable than PPC. I have to soft reset my Dell Axim x50v at least once every two days.

3) PPC seems to be more flexible and run on faster processors than Palm

4) Active Sync for PPC is horrible - the kind of settings available for Palm are superior.

5) I like the fact that the I-730 will be offered with WIFI but given Verizon's track record they might turn that off with the Bluetooth like they did the Motorola V710.

6) The Treo doesn't offer WIFI support - although there is a hack out there (that breaks other functionality).

And finally,

7) Its all speculation...

You pretty much summed it up - some people are just ignorant.

I've learned to believe about .00001% of everything that's posted here. It's unfortunate because there were some very credible people here until Phonescoop changed format about a year ago, which is when they all bolted to other forums. This is pretty much a bitch session, or as with the other topics, a place for 12 year old punks to talk about nothing.

The only useful thing about Phonescoop now is to learn about when new phones are released...then you go to other sites to get the real scoop.

What other sites are there? I've just learned about this site and like everyone else, I'm trying to keep up with when this phone will be released!
Thanks

Interesting idea. But at $215 for the sled ( plus shipping and handling), and $250 for the 650, you will probably be over $500. That's getting pretty close the the price of the i730, but you won't have EVDO capability. Plus, if you do much web surfing or Office document work, the larger screen of the i730 (or the XV6600 for that matter) is a big plus.

Plus it'll probably be twice as heavy and won't fit in the phone case.

LOL....unless you WANT to open up a can of worms.

Asking which is better, Palm or PPC...is akin to asking the following: (and would invoke a flame war on the respective topic board it was on)

What is better...

"Mac vs. PC"
"Nikon vs. Canon"
"Ford vs. Chevy"
