Hi Mary I hope you remember me...this is Jennie. I have a question and I thought if anyone could answer it, it would be you. We just had someone come into our store with an 8100 (the newest version) and they couldnt read text messages from the external display. Is that right? Did they take that away on the newer version? I thought it could be possible since they took it away on the 8300. If you know please let me know asap. Thank you so much!!! Jennie

Hi Jennie! Yes, I remember you! I now have the 8300, but the last version I had with the 8100 was V07, and you could read text messages on the outside with that version. Has there been another version come out, though, that I don't know about?

How do you like the 8300? I love LG but it just doesnt perform well in my area!! Those stub entennas are killing me...but the internal on the razr works great!!! Strange!!!

I agree. It is interesting. Does anyone know more about V8. If it does deactivate the fron screen for viewing text messages, is there other things it does that improve the phone from V7?

I've never heard of it either...but I've seen it with my own two eyes. Its the same software as the 8300 PSKKJM.

That is interesting. When I asked Verizon Online, they said that there was no software update for the 8100.

Mary,

I got a new (refurbished) 8100 today on a warranty swap. It still has the v07 software. I haven't played with it much, as I have an 8300 activated on my line now, but while I was in the store I snapped a couple of pictures, and this camera has virtually no delay; the first of four 8100's I've owned, and about 6 I've tried, that truly don't have a camera delay. Just thought it was interesting.

BTW, what BT headset are you using now? Have you settled on one as your favorite?

I'm using the Logitech Traveller, and am pretty satisfied with it overall.

Jim,
That is interesting. I'm using the Logitech Mobile Express right now and it's working out pretty good for me.

Just spoke with VZW C/S rep. He checked with supervisor and was told: if you replace the phone, via a problem, the latest phones come with v08. But only as a replacement. The stores 'cannot flash it'. Might be worth the $50 bucks and go thru the insurance, if it is the 8300 software. Anybody know what version software is on the 8300? There are a lot of changes to the menus and the voice command. Interesting.

I just got a warranty replacement 8100 this week. It still has v07. Best camera of any 8100 I've had yet though. Haven't even activated the phone, so can't comment on it's reception, sound, or BT.

My 8300 has v01 software. No updates for this phone yet. Read something on Howardforums; some guy was thinking of flashing - not sure that's correct term - 8300 software onto his 8100. Someone else talked him out of it, believing it would not work because of some internal differences.

it wouldn't work anyway. The computer would tell him he is using and invalid binary file.
