I have the same problem. One tech says yes. Another says no. Makes me crazy.

I am an actual tech, and I haven't heard anything about it, and I keep up on that stuff, seen as how i get alot of those "i heard this was coming for this phone" type of questions. Being that the phone is getting up there as far as cell phone age is concerned, and the fact that LG is launching the 8300 for Verizon soon, I'm pretty certian that the 8100's days on store shelves are numbered. If they do release a version 8, I'm guessing, guessing mind you, that it would do things in regards to vcast music, and possibly may give you the Navigation feature like on the 9800. It will probably fix other things as well, but they would be things inside the phone that users wouldn't notice. (Like how it talks to towers and handles signal levels, for ex...

VZ Navigator would be great on the 8100. I hope they do enable it to do that on a possible version 8. Thanks for hangin in the forum helpin us lowly civilians out. It's nice having a real tech give some clarity to situations. I'm a WAN-ATM,Frame Relay Switch guy, so I like the techy stuff. But don't know as much about the wireless as I would like to. I see the V still has the MP3 player enabled and has Vcast. So, for the 8100 to have it once, then disabled, maybe we will get things straight on the Poss. Version 8. But, probably not as I'm sure Verizon has negotiated a contract with Microsoft for it's Music player and phone-PC transfer of music. Oh well. Workarounds are great!!!! Thanks again Littledrummerboy

No problem. I noticed you mentioned the MP3 player being disabled....you do know how to turn it back on, right? If not, lol just punch in "MP3 Player" in the search box at the top of the threads page. Plenty of posts on it.

Yeah, I already enabled it. The whole hidden menu deal

Menu-0
0000000
Music settings
enable MP3
Just waiting on my Memory card to arrive in the mail to use the MP3. Unless you know a way to put them on the internal memory without having to convert to WMA?

Hey,

Since you mentioned the 8300 coming out for Verizon, do you know if Verizon is planning on releasing the LG LX550? I've heard that its actually coming to Sprint.

Thanks!

The 8100 doesn't have the same GPS capability of the 9800 and other VZ navigator phones.

Notice how the 8300 boasts that it will have an upgraded GPS unit. Don't expect the 8100 to support Navigator bc of a software upgrade.

Actually it might. When the VZ Navigator first came out it was only on the Motorola 325. The LG 9800 was already out but wasn't capable yet. I politely hope you are wrong. We can all hope for the best though. There is a guy in these forums called littledrummerboy. He is a real VZ Tech. Maybe he can shed some light on this if he sees it.
