Some stores have version 06.....mine does and I wouldn't let them put it on....while most have the new version 07 and many ppl are reporting that the earpiece is much louder and camera lag is gone

I just called and mine's got v07... going to head over after work 🙂.

Heard only one downside... that BREW-apps with "subscriptions" will be wiped as a side effect of this. All else (pics, saved apps, etc.) should be fine. Subscriptions will need to be reset. Woohoo! Can't wait to give it a shot...

Well, I just got my 8100 flashed with sw v.07 and I will confirm that the GIN games/apps ARE erased, not only the subscription ones. ALL of my Games were erased, including Doom and Massive Snowboarding as well as others that I downloaded from the testapps.server. I'm kinda' dissapointed. 😁

When is Version 8 expected?

And is it true that it destroys the EVDO icon?

Just got off phone with tech support. Was told they were flashing with v07. Knew nothing about a recall. What was the problem?

??? Just got mine flashed about an hour ago and no issues other than my apps being wiped. I then turned MP3 support back on in the setup menu and I'm back in business.

The volume is SUPER loud now. The camera has very little/no lag and I no longer take blurry shots.

VCast music is now supported.

Yes, you can't access your MP3s by holding down the button on the front anymore.

Yes, all my pictures were fine with the only side effect being they added back all the default Verizon pics (which I then deleted again).

Other than that, you need to call 611 for a credit after downloading your apps/games again...

No biggie... and no news about an 07 recall. They've been flashing for the past week they said w/ no probs...

Maybe only some areas have a recall?

I'm on Long Island and two places I went to had version 6 and both said 7 was recalled and so did customer service when I called.

The phones in the stores on display were version 6 also.

The only issue I had with the upgrade is now it says my phone is roaming. They tried flashing it twice, they said try and have it flashed at another store. I'll try tomorrow. No big deal really. Phone still works.

On the phone with Verizon main technical support and nobody's heard about a recall... 'however' my store mentioned something about a notice that went out about some areas seeing the Roaming thing even though they weren't. I remember that issue occurring with v4 in certain areas as well. It was fixed eventually too.

The issue I *did* run into was inability to log into VCast Music try it out... although I have EVDO and regular VCast working. They needed to flick my account over to "VCast + Music". Same price (15/mo)... so odd they just didn't migrate everyone. And although I only plan to use the video primarily, I still wanted the ability to preview albums (free) if the price was the same. So v7 fixes, camera lag, boosts earpiece volume, mp3s are disabled until you change it from super secret service area, and you cant start mp3s from the front of your phone. well i think camera lag> mp3's begin enabled by the front button. if true (could somebody verify what i stated above is true) i might go upgrade.

All verified...go upgrade but u might not be able to get V07 from what I read a few mins ago. U might just get V06 which is just the Music On Demand(MOD) but it also address all of the above bugs

Are you saying V07 fixes the above bugs, or V06? Because I'm just curious if V06 fixes them, then why a V07? I have V06 now, but haven't had volume problems or camera delay (except on very highest resolution), so therefore I woulnd't notice a difference, but just wondered.

I guess V07 is a compilation of V05 and V06 but since theyre having problems with V07 they want the stores to flash V06 instead until they can get V07 fixed....V07 and V06 I fix the bugs

V07 doesn't have bugs. Works great. It's a full-on flash that wipes your apps. No big deal except the fact that they need to recompile the apps on the "get it now" system to work with the new software...

Super-loud earpiece volume, no delay on camera (even on high res), and like I said hours ago, music and MP3s after switching the default back on in the all zeros menu...

The music thing is kinda cool. Even in preview (freebie) mode you can check out albums and see if you like them. Nice...

As I've said before, this phone is friggin' amazing...! It just keeps getting better and better! Only thing I need is a rockin bluetooth headset with no echo or cracklin' 🙂

In response to my message from yesterday (and subsequent hour with high-up tech support), they're starting to get some recompiled "Get it Now" apps out on the network... most notably the VZW Tones Deluxe is back (and the cool thing is the credits I had were still out there, stored under my network account... so not lost). Some games are still not ready yet... Tetris for example is conspicuously gone still 🙂 Although there's plenty of new stuff out there.

That's it... lovin' this thing. Now it beats the iPod it some ways... since iPods don't have wireless connectivity to music w/o a PC and a dock ... hehe 🙂

Iam sorry but i believe your wrong i own the A-950 (samsung0 you can close the phone and talk on speaker and there is no added microphone. Plus you can do it on the 8100 with the headset jack you trick the phone and it works. so all they need to do is make so when you close the phone it wont end the call. it would work if they wanted it to.

So yeahh if u want to carry around a headset with u for the sole purpose of being able to shut ur phone while ur speaker is on thats cool with me. I can deal with the phone being open when I talk to someone

Can you tell me - Does the MP3 player shut off when an call comes in, or does it now pause? Can you pause the playback to make a call? Are the MP3 files still accessable from the front cover? Thanks.

1 and 2) I dont know I dont use the mp3 player...i have my own mp3 player
3) Yes u have to go the tools and settings and change the shortcut to My Mp3 instead of My VCast Music

ok, so today i call tech support, and they assure me that there are no problems with the update, and yes my apps will be erased, but i will get credit for them.

So, i go into my local store to get the update. After waiting inline for almost a half an hour, i get up to the counter and tell them i want the update on my phone. The girl behind the counter informs me that they aren't updating the phones yet because when they do the phone gets stuck on extended network, and wont come back to home network. There were no signs up anywhere letting me know that the update wasnt bieng applied, nothing.

Needless to say i called tech support up and reemed them a new one for giving me wrong information. They ofcourse had no clue anything was ...

I got the impression yesterday and today that each store was making their own decision on the upgrade. I think it was dependent on what kind of problems they were having.

You bet they don't have a clue...when I went in for my upgrade I was assured that my pix and flix would be safe. I picked up my phone 45 minutes later to find they all had been wiped out and the upgrade didn't even go through (contacts and apps were left untouched)! When I complained I was told that they informed me adequately about the risks of data loss!

I think it depends on the store you go to. I will go to either one of 2 stores in my area. They are both good, but one is fefinitely better than the other.

we've got like 7 or 8 stores in this town and i'm starting to think none of them are worth crap... 🙄

that has to be the most retarded thing i've ever heard. if the update is any good, nobody should be having "problems" with it...

7 works great on the 8100

just got my phone flashed with v.07 and it works great. the only thing my phone lost were the games on gin. my pics and flix and everything else stayed the same. also my phone is not in extended network or have the flashing triangle. its in the normal mode. and your still able to get to your mp3s with the outer buttons. go to settings and tools, select tools, select shortcut key, select play key and then select my mp3s. and there it is. close the phone and hold play.

7 works great on the 8100

The software update took about 45 mins. The volume is loud and clear. All my Pix-Flix and MP3s stayed. Thanks to soldier monkey for the
MP3 shortcut key advise. Can use outside buttons to play MP3 now. Good luck all.

Dumb question from a newbie. I haven't had the chance to put any MP3's on the phone (V04). Should I even bother to get the update? I sure would like my camera to work before my pic escapes. If I do, do I use the above instructions to turn the MP3s on?

Yes I do read them. I just couldn't remember how to get into the sectet menu. No reason to get nasty. I work 2 jobs so I don't get alot of time to play with the computer.

From prevous posts you said that you were not having the volume issues that others had. Have you noticed any improvements in the volume since the update.

I'm only asking because I too have not had the volume fluctuation. Just wondering what is the advantage to getting this v07 update. Are there other improvements?

I have V06, but Volume is still great! I'm not sure of any other advantages to V06 then just the VCAST Music, and know nothing about V07. Sorry.

i called my verizon store but they did not have V.07 is it not available everywhere or what. my store is pretty stupid they alsop told me I had to chose between Vcast music or mp3s is this true I dont think it is.

Even after I swithched mine back to the mp3 player the v cast music menu was still there. along with the sync and the other crap they loaded on the phone. I just lost all my apps.

AFAIK, there is not much a different between V06 and V07. I know for sure that V07 SOMETIMES screws up the ERI info and causes the phone to think its roaming. My phone did not do this when I got the update, but it fixed many things in terms of the volume fluctuation and camera lag.

When I got mine falshed they told me to do the *228. I have never had it say it was roaming but I am on the national family share.

So after the update and doing this you can still drag songs on to your card with your computer like the 04 update right???? The verizon store guy said that you cant do the drag anymore.... but you guys are saying the only difference will be that you cant start the mp3s by holding the play menu right??

Read my reply AGAIN. Not only can you drag, but you can also start the MP3 player with the front buttons, granted you follow the directions I posted. Verizon will not tell you that you can do this because it is in the "secret menu" that we aren't supposed to know about or use.

You know what else is strange ever since I got the new phone with the stanard battery, It's been on with out a charge for over 48 hours now and the battery is going strong, still 3 bars. never had it last this long before.
