IM not sure, But I think Verizon is eventually goin to try to disable mp3 playback from sd card on the 8100 n 9800 phones with one of their updates. This means we will be forced to buy from GIN. Any Opinions on this?? Also look at this... https://www.phonescoop.com/news/item.php?n=15 37

It's saying that with V06, you will only be able to use the the music download system (Windows Media 10), which changes the format and therefore you can't use MP3's. However, you can convert them and still put them on like before, OR you can go into the "SECRET MENU" and very easily put it back to MP3 instead of VCAST MUSIC.

v.07 is available TODAY. 😢 Mp3's work fine with it, although you lose all your games/GIN apps. 😁

people seem to be missing the point. verizon switched the format to wma because the file sizes are smaller. if they were gonna be dicks they would have made up their own new format and forced you to buy stuff. it's not like every pc sold doesn't come with windows media player! converting is a slight pain but i think the new options for downloading and play-lists are worth the trade off.
