I was able to connect my laptop and lg8100 via bluetooth using sbc dialup, but the connection doesn't seem to be fast. It show 115kps when i click the dial-up screen but it takes forever for a page to load.
Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advance for any help.

Its slow because of SBC servers. The 115 kb/s which is actually 115.2kb/s your looking at the speed between your BT connection and the computer and not the internet speed itself. I know its shows down in your system tray when connected but thats not it.
If you want the True capabilities dont use SBC and use 10digitmin@vzw3g.com. Your phone should have 1x EV at the top and then you'll know you'll have the faster speeds. I tested mine at 567kb/s. You'll need a HEX editor "XVI32" and change the 10digitmin@DUN.vzw3g.com to just 10digitmin@vzw3g.com. you'll also need the program QPST to read the file structure. The file is the "nvm-data" file. make sure you copy the file and keep it at 5kb, so when you put it back in you dont ruin your OS.

WOW thanks for the info. I was debating this phone until I read what you posted about no change in bill and the use of DUN.

My question to you is how does that work (phone as a modem) when traveling at a high speed. Say i was in a car (passenger of course) on a road trip and wanted to surf the web using the phone as my modem. does the phone work ok going like 70mph on the highway. Obviously if I lost my signal I would have to reconnect right. Thanks again for any advice.

If your connection drops yes you would have to re-connect. However the connection is backwards compatible and would end up at 60-80kb/s but would still be connected. All this of course depends where you travel. sometimes there's is no signal at all.

OK that's a big help. I have one more question about it. How cell-phone APT do you have to be to do what you did to enable these features???
I have worked around computers alot and have some cert's, I have also scratched the surface of software programming but nothing more than that really. Is this hard to do or can an intermeddiate do this even with no-soome difficulty?? thanks again.

Once you see it or do it once you'll never forget. Explaining it is far more difficult than doing it. The HEX editor looks intimidating but you only have to change a few things. The main thing in the HEX editor is when you change anything and leave it blank on the right side where you'll type your 10dgtmin@vzw3g.com there will be some blank space. The left side will have the highlighted cursor and there is where you'll change the HEX code, whatever that may be to 00,00,00,00. This is as complex as it gets. Howard forums explain the procedure alot better than I am so you may want to check in there. Dont worry though, I did and realized how easy it was.

here's the link.

http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32 ... »

Download XVI32 release 2.51.

You'll also need the QPST program to hack the file structure of the 8100.
The nvm_data file is what you'll be changing.
