Adapter vs. card reader

Can someone please tell me the difference between the adapter and the reader? Do you need both of these in addition to the actual card???

The card reader is the device that you plug into the PC to view and add things to the card. The adapter is what turns the mini SD into a normal size SD. You will need to have the adapter also unless your reader will take the mini size also.

Most MiniSD cards will come with the adapter inlcuded.

my adaptor broke and i had to get a card reader that reads mini sd.
