Had to file a warranty claim on another phone I have - Kyocera SE47 and since Asurion doesn't carry that phone anymore, I had to choose between either LG4500 or Samsung N330. The 330 is just too big and ugly, so I went w/4500 since I know LG is good, but it won't come close to 8100 since it's an older phone. I would love to get another 8100 retail but don't know if I want to fork over $300.

I just purchased mine through Amazon. It was $199 upfront with a $50 rebate from Verizon and a $150 rebate from Amazon. It will end up being free. You can't send in your rebate form until you get your second billing.

Just a warning. I received the phone and it did not have the initial programming nor the version 4. I talked with Verizon and they were able to activate me over the phone but I had to take in the phone to upgrade to 4. LOVE THE PHONE.

I too bought from Amazon - have done this for years - it is clearly the best place to get a cell phone - their rebates are rediculous.

I already have the service and just want a replacement phone. Anyone know where to get the best deal w/o a service plan (besides ebay)?

I know! I totally figured people would assume that. I mean you can get a free phone or a $50 if you activate a new plan or renew. But I just want another phone w/o strings!!

i bought my phone for retail at a corporate store and it was 300. that was about a month ago when it was 199 with a 50. now its 150 with a 50 so it might be even lower. check it! 😉

try bestbuy, the one by me seems to sell them at cost so it would be about 290. Corporate should offer you %25 off retail per a deal they have going right now and that should make it around 263 per my calculation, just call customer care and tell them you have to pay retail and someone told you they can offer %25 off.
