Does anyone have a list of the specific things that are being addressed with this update, such as the volume problem, etc.?
If so, would you please post a list of all of them in easy-to-read format?
1?
2?
3?
4?
5?
Thanks!!!
😁
...
1. MP3 player
2. Option to turn off disco lights
3. Fluctauting volume fixed
4. Bluetooth headset echo reduced significantly
...
That's awesome!
I have to go get this thing!
...
That list covers a lot of the problems and annoyances!!
Thanks!!
😁
...
Just wanted to know after you got the update, how do you disable the disco lights?
Thanks.
...
Menu->Settings and Tools->Display->Status Lights->Off
...
Looking forward to being able to disable it if I need to...althought I really like them!!
...
Yeah, i liked the lights alot on this phone...that was until I went into a movie theater and tried to see who was calling me when my phone vibrated...those disco lights are BRIGHT!
...
I never understood why ppl have to check their phone in the theaters when it vibrates. 🙄 The screen alone is bright enough and gets the attention of everyone sitting behind. Put the phone on vibrate, or shut it off, and you can check it later!
...
Well, when you have a pregnant wife waiting till after the movie isn't an option.
...
Someone stated that the fluctuating ear piece problem wasn't fixed.
...
Yeah a lot of people were saying that it only activated the mp3 player but it's not true. It fixed the earpiece big time, I didn't realize how bad it was until I used it after the update. So much clearer now too.

That's great. Thank you for all your help. Can you tell me anything about battery life and reception? Not how clear but how far. How is the range on your phone? Is it about what some of your past phones were? Same for the battery? Thanks again.
...
Your question is worded a little oddly but let me see if this answers the question. I had a 6100 and it had ok reception, but with the 8100 I get much better reception. My reception has not changed since the update. Battery life is kinda hard to gauge because I've been using the MP3 player and Bluetooth almost constantly. It has more than enough battery life to get me through my day and even two days if I need it.

Sorry for the goofy words. Trying to do to many things all at once. You know. You have answered my question just fine. Thanks a bunch!
...
Is the playback volume any louder when playing MP3s as compared to a file that is renamed to mid??
...
😁 🙂 DID anyone notice that the battery life is better now since the update? 😁 😁 😁 🙂

If you are having Batt life issues and your not a V-Cast subscriber do the following, i gurantee it will almost doublt life!!
press:
OK
then,
0000000 (seven 0's)
press 3
press 1
select "1x only" then OK
done!
when it searches for EV it kills batt life.
keep in mind it will keep this in memory until you *228 your phone then it will reset this back so you will need to go through the process again after each *228 update.
good luck and let us know how it works!!!
...
so tell me. can you play mp3s, and close the phone and still play mp3s with the phone flipped closed? lemme know!
...
from the videos I've seen, you can start playing an mp3, and while it's playing you can open the phone and close it all without turning off the mp3 player.

I callled three different verizon reps and none of them heard of this so called update!!!!
...
I went to 2 stores today. Both said it is in their computers but they are not authorized to put it on phones yet. They said by the end of the week it will be available. I am in North NJ.
Also, does anyone know will the problem of ringtones still playing while in vibrate mode be fixed, and the camera delay?
...
Sorry i was told last night there is no update so i don't know anymore i guess i just have to go to the store because at customer service dont know what they are talking about!

For future reference, 99% of all customer service
reps do not know anything about any phone firmware updates. They do not handle that type of equipment issue and is always advised to have the customer go directly to a store and speak with a tech. I know this because I worked several years as a VZW customer service rep. The only time a CS rep is advised of any hardware issues is if it's something crazy, like when the Kyocera SE47 slider phones had bad batteries and they were overheating. Other than that, if it's ...

I agree with what you said i am a customer service rep at vzw and i try to keep up with those types of things i regulary check our equip troubleshooting guide for the necessary new updates as most of my family has verizon and they have different phones, and i have gone into the verizon store and said i brought my phone in for the software update and knew there was one and had the tech tell me there is none i had to insisit that there was one then he went and checked he was not gonna and then came back and said oh yeah there is one,

Just got the update in Central NJ - East Brunswick. Seems good, but the start up screen that had the pictures of the Lighthouse and city scenes and sunset has been replaced with a V-Cast commercial. Pathetic.

Yea man...
That new V-Cast stuff stinks. I liked the startup screen your referring to. Oh well, there's always a price to pay!!
...
No option for 2nd startup screen? They removed it?
...
How long did it take to run? They are telling me about 8-10 min. I've heard about as much as an hour.
...
It took about three hours. There are two start up screens. The cool one is gone. Now there's only the ugly one and the stupid one.
...
Who cares what the start-up screen looks like? It's only on there for a couple of seconds anyways! Plus, a lot of people keep there phone on most of the time and will never see this anyway.
...
So true Mary. My phone is never off. If the phone was free with free service some would still find a fault in that. Anyway my phone took 12 mins to do yesterday.
...
So so true. Some ppl can't be pleased no matter what!
...
I know it's only on for a second. I just thought the v-cast thing is kind of cheesy. The update is great, by the way. I put about 100 songs on there.
...
the reason software upgrades take so long some times, and are so quick other times is simple. most stores only have one computer to do it. if they have 4 people ahead of you looking for a software upgrade it's gonna be a while. if you're the only one, not so much.
...
Over 2 hours for mine too. Just got back. East Brunswick. The stupid SOB gave it back to me and never checked it. Twice! It took 3 times for it to go thru. And when I said something, they were arrogant. Usual BS - no manager. He went home. But I know him from before, a real s***bag. 😛 😛
...
Are the camera delays fixed? Can you use the zoom feature on the highest resolution?
...
My delay is about half a second or so. That is what it was preupdate and still is. As for the zoom in high res...NO that is still inoperable.
