IT HAS BEEN RELEASED
I just talked to a technician at the Crossgates mall in Albany, NY and he said it has been released and as we were speaking another technician was uploading it to their computer. He's going to call me back in 20 minutes. He said it fixes a number of problems: Fluctuating volume, enables mp3 player, and camera delay. I will get a full description when I go to get the update.

I have the update and it's amazing. It took about an hour for the tech to do it but I went to a pretty busy store so I'm pretty sure it can be done in 45 minutes. If you want me to prove it just give me your email and I'll send you a video.

What did they say it will update besides the MP3 player? Is the volume problem fixed and is the signal strength stronger. Is the camera delay gone and does the speakerphone work any better? Thanks for the input

I beleive him because the update is floating around now! The official release for it is next week, who posted the 8/22 thread was probably right I am not sure if it will be monday but it will most definately be in stores next week.

I called the Monroe Ave store in Pittsford and they said no date and it is in test in our area. What store did you call? *611 did say that it would be within a week though. Keep your fingers crossed.

I have not called anyone yet but I have dealt with Jake in Victor in the past. He is the one that told me about the 8100 a couple months ago and told me to wait. He may have a 8100 so he would be a good contact. Let me know if you get a hold of him. He also told me about Phonescoop so he is most likely on top of what is going on in this area. Good luck!

Jefferson Rd store giving me the CIA "we dont know what u are talking about" crap. So I called Greece and they said they are testing it in store as we speak. As early as tomorrow as late as Mon. Delay because the update can delete all info and they want to fix that.

Like I said...He doesn't have it, NO one has it! It's been 3 1/2 hours and hmmmm....no email! No Verizon store has it and they don't know when they'll get it. All of the individuals saying they have it are messing w/ us. As a matter of fact, every Verizon rep I've talked to says when and IF there is an update it won't be until later this year and the Mp3 player will NOT be active. I'm still waiting for someone to show me wrong but have fun believing!!

Stopped into 2 stores and called 3 more (just now). No update as of here yet. Different markets, different releases. Was told probably the end of the week. When I see it, I'll believe it. VZW is all BS.

Called my local store, this time they actually said they knew about it! Tech said their computers haven't been updated with it yet, but should be here sometime in Sept. 😡 . He told me to call back labor day weekend. We'll see I guess. I'm going to keep calling everyday to check on it, though.

CS claims that they will text me when it is available in my area but I dont trust them so I still check. But if you think they will call you they SAY they can do that for anyone. Check it oit if you like.

I am just curious.....I have some songs saved on my card as .qcp. When I get the update, will those play or do you need to put songs on the card with .mp3 to use the player, or where do you put songs so they play, etc.??????????

I just read an answer you posted on another question right after I posted this, which answered some of my questions, still curious, will it play the ones I have now in the "my sounds" that are .qcp, or do I need to rename to .mp3?

The sounds you have in the My Sounds folder will play the same way they have (side note: when the update is loaded on the phone the original sounds replace anything you have in that folder). Once you get the update there will be a new folder called MY_MP3 and that is where you put your files, all in mp3 format. If you are using Bitpim you will notice a directory as well.

yeah so i went tonight to check and see if maybe they would give me any information.. and the guy told me that there is no plan to even put an mp3 player on the phone and that LG said thats the way they wanted it.. and he told me that LG makes the software for the phones and that they just loaded it.. and i made this guy look like an ass cuz i was like so that explains why theres already a video of the mp3 player working and other stores sayin that its gettin ready 2 be released and he was just like you must read the forums and he was like thats not true they must have gotten the first batch of them.. lmao what a bull**** lie... i mean he couldve thought of something better

Just to confirm, although I think you may have answered earlier, but you DO NOT have to change the .mp3 format to .mid or .qcp to read off the miniSD card right?
