oh yeah and i forgot to mention that since this mp3 player is now going to be enabled through an upgrade you know longer have to rename your files to .mid
if you want the upgrade you have 2 go to the store 2 get it loaded onto your phone and im not sure if every verizon store has it yet.. this one shown in the video came from a florida verizon worker and said that they are giving out the upgrade as of right now.. so hopefully it'll be released everywhere

I can confirm the no update in CT. I just called a store (Newington, CT) the tech guy said "uh, maybe a week or a month". Basically he knew NOTHING about it, as usual. Verizon does not educate their stores.

I live in Massachusetts and bought my phone from the Verizon store in Saugus. I just bought my phone today, my phone does not have the MP-3 player. I forgot to ask the salesperson about it and when I mentioned it to the person who rang up my purchase he didn't know anything about it. I couldn't find my salesperson at that time and had already been there for longer than anticipated so I will call her tomorrow about the upgrade, if I find out anything I will post again tomorrow (Friday)

I called the Santa Monica store and the tech said there's no update. 2530 Wilshire, 90401, 310-828-1279. Tech said he has the same phone and says you can only play mp3 with SD card. Of course he also wasn't aware of any issues with volume. Who knows. I might try customer service today and see what they say.

I have to agree with quasiosi182 Josh did a great job of cracking the ringtone issue. I'm using his method and it lets you put more ringtones on than you will ever use.

you will see a list of applications on the phone, select "Media Player"
You can play files in your mf directory, so if you put an mp3 in there, you can play it with the Media Player. This is the only way to be able to fast forward through mp3 files on the phone.
Unfortunately, we have not figured out how to be able to read mp3s off the memory card from the special Media Player.
