Food For Thought....

This is admittedly a long post, but there is a message in here. I promise.

Yes, the LG VX-8100 has a number of software problems, most noticeably the
“volume issue” that has been discussed numerous times here. I’ve
unfortunately experienced this first hand, and agree that it can be
extremely frustrating when you’re on an important call, and suddenly, your
phone is rendered completely useless because of some unseen internal glitch
that makes hearing the person you’re talking to next to impossible. To
counter this, I use my headset (I’ve been using the Motorola HS-850
Bluetooth headset) almost exclusively, as it’s never had a problem with the
volume dropping out. I’ve also found that the speakerphone works quite
well, coming i...

I have constantly used the HS-850 headset also (while testing others) and have only once experienced the dropped volume one time. I was on the headset at the time and lost the call when I tried to disconnect from had the 6000 and never had one bit of trouble. My beefs if they hadn't screwed with the software to start with, none of this would have happened.

Thanks for the food!! I surely do hope that the software update is coming as you stated!! 😁

Not considering the "crippled" features, this will be a great phone when the few software issues are resolved!! 😁

If what you said about the 815 is correct - then it's older technology (at least older than the LG 8100) dressed up in a new suit (a very flimsy suit at that)!

The "flimsy" excuse you keep using is very old. It shows desperation at not being able to find a better reason not to like the 815. Unless you own one, I don't see how you can possibly comment on it structural integrity. My 815 is plenty tough enough. And guess what? It has no volume issues, no camera issues, and no MP3 player issues. It actually works.

As I have stated - I had the 8100 and returned it - and yes I did think the 815 was flimsy (which was why it wasn't picked up as an alternative). The phone just felt very light and that is a sign that perhaps it's made with cheap materials (thus the cheap selling price). I would love to look into the future - a year from now - and see how many 815 owners are still happy with their purchase (or for that matter, how many have gone onto another phone - perhaps even to the 8100!).

Motorolame550 is the retard. Follow his posts and you will see that obviously he couldn't count and his 15 days passed and now he stuck with his cheap little moto. It's alright though cause I know he's a dummy holding a dummy phone.

It's funny, I could have sworn this was the 8100 forum. I wonder why there are Moto people here always trying to hate on LG/Verizon. Why do these people even want to spend their time on this forum. I've been checking out this forum for a few weeks and have not even checked out the 815 forum BECAUSE I DON'T OWN ONE...wow talk about retarded logic huh? I mean I used to own a Moto and now I own an LG, big deal. Each company makes different products. I made a choice and so did a lot of people on this forum. Deal with it people. Period.

I'm here because I've been an LG fan for a long time, and still am. It's not my fault the 815 is the better phone this time around. Maybe next time LG will come out on top and I can return.

As far as you not going to the Moto forum because you don't own one. Not owning one has not stopped many here from slamming the 815, even BEFORE the 8100 came out.

Maybe you should check out the other forum. I don't see how a rational decision can be made without experiencing all options available.

I had the v710, and had THREE problems with it.

1. The screen on my first one would scramble periodically, then come back on, for no apparent reason. It finally just went blank. I called, they sent me a new one.

2. On my second one, it eventually quit taking a charge, or rather, the plug wore out. I had to use rubber bands to hold the charger into the phone to get the phone charged, until Verizon, once again, sent me a new one.

3. The third (and final) v710 had a nasty habit of doing SOMETHING (god knows what) to my text messaging that caused me to simply not receive my messages. Like the screen, this happened for no apparent reason. If I pulled the battery out and hard rebooted, then i would USUALLY get about 10-15 messages (o...

I have owned 2 LGs in the past, and had the Moto V60 for a couple of years--I like both brands. I suppose it's just a case by case basis on which phones are better, some years LG and some years Moto I'm sure. I agree that many here have slammed the 815 and I'm sure many on the 815 forum are slamming the 8100. To each their own and people are going to do what they're going to do.

Personally, I check out this forum to get information on the 8100 because that's what I own. I ask my questions and try to answer others if I can so I can return the favor.
I checked out the 815 forum yesterday and saw the same type of stuff going on here, except I won't get much out of it because I don't have an 815. I did own the 815 for 2 days and just ...

Well I wasn't referring to people like you, who seem to have common sense and courtesy. I'm talking about people like Motorolams who have nothing better to do than to waste their time and others. He posted a response talking about "retarded logic" earlier, so that's why I made the same point. I don't think anyone has problems hearing other points of view, but I'm talking about childish remarks and pointless bashing.

I completely agree with you on all of your points however, I did exchange my 8100 today for the E815. I must admit that the clarity and signal is better by far. I am sorry to say it as I stated earlier today that I am a fan of LG. I chose not to wait for an "UPDATE" I am happy so far. I do miss LG's menus though,, they are simple and neat.

kind on new around here, lingering-1st post. Anyway, ordered my 8100 last week and have been enjoying it thus far. Have to admit that i have not expirienced any of the problems people have talked about in here,i love it, great reception, sound quality, solid construction, stylish. other than camera delay on highest res setting, don't use it anyway, so it dosn't bother me. Of course i would like them to correct the mp3 player issue, but in all fainess, it's not a software issue, they meant it not to work right away. Ive been using LG for awhile now, my previous Lg had been underwater 3 times, and still worked like new. amazing! So when i went to local store to pick new phone i was already biased.I played with the 815 but i'm a touch person, and ...

I'm also new to this forum and completely agree with aronz9..

I just bought my phone a week ago and I'm not experiencing any major problems with the phone.. one time I had one person say that they heard an echo while i was talking to them on speakerphone but if you just turn it down then it fixes that problem because all volumes will be different and that only makes sense that you have to adjust the volume of each caller.. anyways the camera in my opinion is so much better than the lg vx6000.. and to me that is just amazing that a phone can even take pictures of that quality with such a small lens! We all have to remember these are cell phones and thats what we need to mainly judge them by.. camera, bluetooth, mp3... those are extras and...

I agree with you on many things. And you make a good point of the software problems. But the question I raise is why should we settle for these? Even if they fix it soon, to me that's still unacceptable. Even if the E815 is an 'fixed' version, what is the 8100??? Isn't it just the same software with the Ev-DO added on? I'm sure it is. Right now the 8100 is an inferior phone, because of the glitches. In the future who knows? But now, I would never spend my money on something I know is so Crippled and glitchy. That's just my take.
