there will always be an short delay with the camera on the 8100. thats what you get with a 1+ megapixel camera on a cellphone. the 8000 is the same way. call any of the lg reps and they will say the same thing. if your delay is more than a second or 2 then you have a problem.

You will only have a delay when it is set at the highest resolution (1280x960). Any other there shouldn't be a delay. I keep mine at 640x480 and the pictures are just as clear and good as the highest with NO DELAY. So, it may be true at the highest delay. I have tried this with the highest and do get a 1 second delay, so I'd say just set yours at 640x480 and get just as good of pics with no delay. I think if they offer the highest res. then they should have made it work without a delay, but maybe that is not possible. I don't see it as a problem, though, because the next highest takes just as good of pics with no problems at all.

Only on the highest resolution. Doesn't seem like a problem to me. Just use the next lowest, which takes just as good of pics. No biggie. I can totally deal with that and don't consider that a problem at all.

Try using the flash, it will help. you need to set this each time you want to take a pic with flash.

The graininess that you're seeing at the highest resolution in low light is called noise. Noise is a factor of available light, camera ISO (speed), and lens aperture (size of the hole).
This little tiny camera is not physically capable of taking decent pictures in low light, especially not at the highest resolution. Like Mary, I leave my camera set to 640 and it works pretty well, for a phone that is.

Thanks you two! Although it is grainy in lower light settings (I keep mine on the 640 setting as well), I WILL have to say that the pics it takes are still better than others (I've compared it to my dad's LG 6000). And I've used the flash a few times, and boy let me tell you, it does a pretty daggone good job! I took a pic. in my car @ night and it came out good! I've noticed that with some other phones, you can't really tell a difference with the flash on vs. the flash off.

I got my phone from Vegas while on vacation and it has the delay. I'm from Indy. When I got home I went to swap it out 4 another, but I test the new and it had the same problem so I said f--- it, I keep the one I got and hope it gets fixed with a soft ware upgrade 🙄

There is only a delay on the highest resolution. Just change it to one lower and you will not have the delay.

Sometimes I feel that I am the only one that expects when I pay good money on a product for it to work at its fullest. I want to use the camera at its highest resolution or else I would just get a VGA camera phone. Then again I also want to close the unit and play mp3s continuously with a list or sequentially too.
