Hello all...

I'm new to these forums but not to this site. I come here quite often for info and help, but now I've come to a point where I really some opinions here.

I am currently with Cingular... formerly AT&T Wireless and I HAVE to get a new cell phone (as told by Cingular reps for reasons which would lead to a LONG story) cause my current phone isn't compatible with Cingular's network.

The phone I have now is a Samsung E-316.

Anyway...

I have been to Verizon's stores and sites and various others like this and I believe I've found the phone(s) I want. I need help on deciding which to get -- 8100 or 8000 -- and I've looked at all the reviews on each and at first I was going to settle on the 8100 but now I'm stuck between th...

If you want my opinion (I've owned both the 8000 and now the 8100) that I would say go with the 8000. The last software update the 8000 has is at version 5 which means that more "glitches" have been addressed and fixed. The 8000 also has a much better camera and doesn't have problems with volume fluctuations and the phone is much louder through the earpiece and speaker. The other nice thing is you send midi files to your phone via pix messaging and set them as custom ringtones. The only thing bad about it is the large size.

I had upgraded to the 8100 because I will admit that I had issues with the phone resetting itself and freezing up-- these issues ONLY occured when I attempted to download something from Get-It-Now (it didn't do it...

I just thought I would throw in another perspective. I would go 8100 for sure. I never owned a 8000 but my bro in law has 1 that I play with all the time by helpin him add stuff and such. With the mini sd on the 8100 I would say its not even close unless the camera is a huge feature for you. That mini sd memory will make for a lot of options that you dont have on the 8000. The 8100 has glitches and some problems for sure. They will be looked at and worked on I am confident. You buy a 8000 and a short time from now when the 8100 is workin perfect you are goin to be sorry you dont own it. I believe though that the 8000 is an excellent phone so really you can't go too wrong.

well im sorry to say but it appears that the 8000 is discontinued and E-bay seems like the only source for it. I have an 8100 and am very disappointed with it thus far, now what will happen with the update and all that jazz i dunno.... Although it does have many crippled features it is still an lg, so basically you will get a good phone. Also it seems like the only other phone that is worth while (now that the 8000 is retired) is the audiovox 8940 and that phone is said to have many software problems... so its up to you

I've had the 8000 since it came out, I got it the first day. I just returned the 8100 after 13 days. Go with the 8000!!! It has much better RF (in other words it is able to pick up and hold a signal much much much better)! I can't say that I had any bugs or issues with the 8000, it is a great phone. The 8100 on the other hand.... they will fix some of the software problems but who knows when. I was told initially they would fix the BlueTooth limitations on the V710 until it was too late for me to return it. The things they can't fix with a software upgrade on the the 8100 are the poor RF and the poor battery life. I personally decided to get the 815 a try because I have heard a lot of good things about it. I said I would not go back...
