8100 Sounds added

I have been able to copy music to the phone in the /brew/16452/ms directory by overwriting sounds i recorded in the my sounds menu. And they play just fine (and sound amazing!)

The problem with this is that there is no way to set those as ringer. This is strange because the sounds that come in that folder are ringtones in other phones (i.e dreamsequence.mid)

This folder uses memory from the aplication partition which you can check and seems to alow up to 27mb (flix + Vcast+ apps).

Has anyone been able to actualy get ringtones into this thing yet? I know not many of us have these but those who do let me know ;)

I cannot figure it out either. I took it into the Verizon store yesterday. They played around with it for 25 minutes, but couldn't figure it out. If you figure anything out, please let me know.

Thanks

I'm hoping that its a software glitch that they forgot to add (set as ringtone) menu item.

I'm sure there are little old ladies out there that are going to cry when they cant get the rain forest song set as a ringtone!

can you explain how you access /brew/16452/ms directory? i'm assuming you used a usb cable. also, have you tried saving MP3s in the miniSD? the 27MB internal memory seems too limited for any substantial amount of music files.

oops. thanks for info. are the ringtones synonymous with MP3 in terms of the way they are saved into the phone? it seems like people are talking about them as if they were the same. sorry guys, had a PDA phone before and trying to get acclamated with this. anyone using the Mobile Office Kit that goes with the 8100 (although it hasn't come out yet)?

This is B.S. You can't even record your voice and use it as a ringtone like you've been able to on the last 4 LG phones!! And that whole stuff about the phone having 512mb of memory is misleading. You can't store over 2mb of ringtones. Everyone got all hyped about this phone as the best phone ever, and LG takes a page out of Motorola's book and cripples user friendly features on the phone.......This sux
