1. Get a USB cable

2. Download BitPim to your PC and follow these instructions:

http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?s=30e4aea ... » ...

Once you place MP3's on the phone with BitPim, the rew/play/ff buttons on the outside are used to operate the hidden MP3 player. You will see immeadiately why this phone has those stereo speakers on the outside once you play an MP3. It is amazing the phone comes will all this built in, but no instructions on how to use it. The MP3 capability is meant to be used in the future with Verizon's music-on-demand, but you can use it now if you do a little research!

So does this mean you have to buy the data cable or can you load the program via the MiniSd card? If you can't then that means you have to use the cable every time you want to upload an mp3? What about storage? Can you store mp3's on the MiniSd? I have a feeling we're in for some dead ends here.

WEll, i know you can get the data cable on ebay for cheap. (anyone know is the VX7000 data cable can be used for the vx8100?). and if you could use the mini SD card to transfer, you would have to have the adapter, and the connector for the SD card to your PC (more money).I don't have the phone yet, so i don't know if you can store MP3's on miniSD card. All of these questions could probably be answered by ALALOCOA (i spelled it wrong).

anyone?

The car charger for the 6100, 7000, 8000 does list the 8100 on it so I would assume the data cable will work.

The VX7000 cable is perfect for the VX8000. That is what I bought on eBay. They advertised it as VX6100/VX7000/VX8000. All three phones have the same port I guess.

See my other post today for my thoughts on the MiniSD.

i talked to a VZW rep (i don't know how reliable this is) who said that you have to load the music on the miniSD card from a PC slot for the card. there's no way to transfer the MP3 files otherwise. not sure if that's true with the BITPIM. i just got the new 8100 but no cable yet. i bought a miniSD as well. will need to buy other accessories to try and see if this works. anybody else in the know with the 8100?

Any luck getting the MP3 player to work on the 8100? Any idea how much memory is actually integrated on the phone. All the VZW reps I talk to give me a different answer

Just going by my experience with the VX8000:

*Bitpim resides on your PC; no program is loaded on the phone.

*I will guess that Verizon has locked the MiniSD card like they locked the Audiovox 8940's so that you can't read/write to it unless it's in the phone. So the only way to upload/download is via the USB cable. I don't know if you can store MP3s on the MiniSD when using the cable. To get the MP3s to play on the VX8000, you have to load them into just the right directory with Bitpim. Since there is probably some sort of encrypting going on to lock the files, Bitpim may bypass that and the outcome could be interesting. In the end I will bet that we can use Bitpim to upload MP3s to the MiniSD and that the phone will recognize the...

How long does it take on average to load a FULL song onto the 8000 using the program?

I would like to know if it is feasible to use this method to fill a 1gb card as far as time is concerned. How long for one FULL song? I've never done this before.
