Music files on the 512MB internal memory

protocall

now that the release date seems ever so closer, i have a pending question on one of the main features that have lured me to this phone. will the 512MB internal memory hold and play transferred music files from the PC? if so, what type of files: mp3, wma, etc. since the MOD is not going to be a factor for most part of this year, this should be a capability that should be flawless.

Well I heard about the supreme court ruling on downloading music for free and transferring files and now you're not suppose to. Which will be terrible for programs like limewire, and people with ipods will now have to subscribe to programs such as napster or actually pay $1 per song(with apple) or unlimited with a monthly fee (napster). With verizon launching MOD in the near future, as we know they love getting every last penny, you can expect high prices on songs. So im leaning toward the moto e815 now cause I feel i will never get to use 512 mb of memory for songs if I'm going to have to pay for each song.

"Well I heard about the supreme court ruling on downloading music for free and transferring files and now you're not suppose to. "

true, but the law doesn't prevent anybody from buying CD's or buying songs online legit and then transferring files to players. no, i wouldn't pay more than $1/song +/- from VZW even if that service was available later on. but i do want to know if the whether or not the 512 memory on the 8100 can have transferred files on it. it would otherwise defeat the purpose of the large storage space.

from everything I have heard, YES, you can. I'll be buying the phone shortly after the release, over the e815 specifically for that feature. that extra memory is niiicceee. besides, even if they don't let you transfer their way, just buy a data cable and do it yourself 😛

this is probably a stupid questions, but where would be the best place to buy a data cable for this phone when it comes out?

not to repeat myself but no one listened when i posted this before. this phone will not have 512 of memory! the official lg launch package states "64mb flash/32mb sram" it also makes no mention of an "mp3" player. don't say i didn't tell you so.

If this doesnt have the 512MB then im going for the Moto E815 , thats the main reason i was getting excited, and if i cant take my MP3 off my comp and put em on the phone.....well then for sure im not getting it. Like i really need a wireless headset.

heh, yeah, pretty much same here. I'm gonna wait a couple weeks after they come out anyway to see what kind of calls I get about them, because I'll here if they turn out to be pieces of junk

me on the other hand. i'm way more interested in the wireless headset than the mp3 stuff. it would be nice to have it, but i've been waiting for a lg with bluetooth and a decent speaker for quite a while now. i'll be interested to see what verizon does with their music on demand service. that will be available on the 8100 and not on the e815 from what i understand.

i am a little worried, looking on the online manual and technical features posted on infocenter, i found nothing mentioning mp3's as compatable format. This makes me nervous becasause you would think it would be one of the key points of the phone. I did however read in the manual that only ringtones downloaded through get it now will be available as ringers in the phone đŸ˜ĸ oh well have to figuere out how to do it with a cable like the 8000!

The way I read the launch pack is that the 512MB is included and that Pix & Flix are transferable. Ringtones are not. They will probably downplay MP3 capability since Get Music is not ready yet. So either the MP3 player is crippled, which would suck, making those buttons on the outside of it useless... not to mention stereo speakers or it's active just that they don't want you to use it. I figure if they cripple it, there will be a software upgrade to re-instate it when Get Music comes online. I beleive it was mentioned in the press conference that the LG VX8100 is the MP3 capable phone for the new music service.
