Reason to hope (release date info)
I recently found out that you can get the new phone deal 2 months early, and despite everything cool I found out about the 8100 I decided to go to the vzw store for a 7000. HOWEVER, when I told the clerk about my interest in the 8100 he told me not to get the 7000. He did not give me a specific date, but it was implied that if I got the 7k my trial period would run out just days before the 8100 release. Needless to say I hope to have the phone by the end of the month! 🙂

it is good that the rep only implied that it was going to be out soon because if he said that it was coming out then he would have benn lying to you and he would have been in trouble. this phone was posted on phonescoop not too long ago, it usually takes like 3-6 months before the phone gets on verizon, ie treo 650, which just got released on verizon. don't hold your breath for the 8100.

you should hold your breath, it will be out sooner than some people are speculating. These comments are mearly speculation. The phone was annouced before they released the 8000, sometime in Dec.

I want to see this phone come out as much as the next guy...BUT, the 8000 wasn't out until late Dec, early January...that's only 4-5 months ago. I cannot believe that they would bring out the 8100 this soon. I read in one thread a better guess was closer to December and that seems about right, doesn't it?

I'm a indirect sales agent for verizon and i've been searching this phone for myself. We get no information ahead of time, they dont tell me why but i assume so we dont leak information incase it changes last minute. I've called customer service but none of the reps i've talked to have any information of the phone either. I heard from a phone junkie it is second quarter this year and that june 1st is a possible date. I sure hope so cause i'm waiting with you guys.

I'm also an indirect sales agent for VZ and we're the second-to-last to know. The last are the VZ customer service agents. We must remember that most of them are entry level employees who merely look up account info and answer simple questions. They (in general) do not have any more "inside info" than do the retail store reps. Let's not forget that EV-DO is expanding in more markets, and the selection, without going PDA, is rather slim.

Yeah, tough to guess the release dates. My first guess is they'll release it in the fall for the X-mas season. Second guess is it gets released as a summer phone in late June/July.

The VX-8100 was actually approved earlier last year. A release as soon as tomorrow would not surprise me. This phone will come out during the summer months. All the information I got says its release got pushed back though. On the Treo 650 it was approved and launched on other networks in a timely matter Verizon's testing and software updates is what make the pda/phone combo come out later, so no comparison.

If Verizon just released this great 8000 phone 5 months ago, why would they come out with an upgrade so fast? It just doesn't make good business sense to me. You would think they would want to milk the 8000 for at least 9 months or so before switching models. I hope I'm wrong...

I believe that LGs side of this is this isn' truly an upgrade of the model itself just a replacement. It can also be viewed as just another addition to the line, like the VX-4500 to the VX-4600, not upgrades to easch other just addtions to the LG line.

I did send email to LG & Verizon and could not get a definite answer to a firm release date.
However, as someone on this site has already noted, the new accessory phone supplies are coming in with the 8100 imprinted on the cartons.
Best guess from so called "insiders" is June. If anyone else knows more specifics let us know.
