bluetooth for networking

I am curious, if I were to use the bluetooth on this phone to get my laptop on the internet, are you charged per minute as you would be a phone call, or does it need to be set up differently and charged differently?

If it is charged per minute, does that mean night/weekend use would be unlimited just like a phone call?

I am aware of the EDvo, but...how are you charged for using it online? is it counted as minutes towards your phone calls, or is there a seperate plan required for inernet?

I am a Verizon Rep, just went from Retail to Business. The poster w/ the 15 dollars no airtime use first two months free is right, but let me give a few other details.

EVDO is only available in a few areas!! It is very limited now. You should be able to buy EVDO phones in non-evdo areas but that does not mean you will get the service. Further more even if you figure out how to use a BT phone for a wireless modem you will still have to figure out how to configure that connection to get the optimal connection. Be assured that Verizon will NOT support you in this endeavor. Finally I have been warned myself that Verizon is going to be moitoring EVDO usage and determing wether or not it is being abused by users. If we see that it is I ...

Also being a Verizon Wirless salesperson, I have to agree with the previous post with regards to VZW monitoring the EVDO usage. I wouldn't be the least bit suprised if they started putting a upload/download limit to curb people trying to use the EVDO as internet access with their laptop.

Furthermore, chances are, unless VZW gets some sense and stops crippling the bluetooth on their phones, you won't be able to achieve this anways.

Good luck trying to configure your phone to do this.

The better way to do this would be to do what Cingular does: They have certain mobile web activity levels (3mb, 8mb, and unlimited) for 3 different price levels. And this does NOT enable you to use your phone as a modem. That is a separate charge for a strict data plan. Those data plans are more expensive yet.

I would have thought VZW would have thought of this a long time ago, with how focused they are on boosting their revenues.

And please, before you jump on me, I am a customer of VZW (personal phone) and Cingular (business phone). So I am NOT posting this to bash VZW, because I am very satisfied with their service. I am simply stating that there are ways to allow customers to use their phones to the fullest of its ability, an...

My undestanding of VCAST is that its $15/month plus you get unlimited Mobile Web without using minutes. Mobile Web and using your phone as a modem with a laptop are two different things I believe.
