Restarting

I have gone through 4 e815's in the last to months. Of those 4 two were exchanged because they were rebooting on their own. I brought the first one back and they exchanged for a new one. When I complained about the second one I was told that I could have a virus on the first exchange so when they ported my phone book, the virus traveled to the second one. I now have another new e815 and it has happened again.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks

What kind of problems have you had?

I can say that I haven't had any other problems other than the one I mentioned.

I even had DUN enabled and have been able to use it with my iPaq with no problem.

I have had the phone freeze up on me several times. I had to physically remove the battery from the unit to shut the phone down, then put it back in & restart the phone. I now reboot the phone once or twice a day, I find that the phone does not freeze up when I do this. Other then that, no other problems what so ever. This is a very good phone!

I agree that it is a good phone but the restarting is quite annoying.

I am going to give it another week and see what happens.

Of those of you who have had the problem where sometimes the screen sorta locks up, and then the phone sorta resets itself and slowly comes back to life after you hold the end button for a while (which mine does occasionally), how many of you have done SEEM edits to your phone? Could it be maybe that playing around with it causes some instability? Or are there ppl experiencing this out-of-the-box?

I have not done any seem editing or flashing of the bios although I know that you can in order to unlock the OBEX option (my DUN was working out of the box).

That may be the problem with others but not me.

I have seen many posts about this problem, but fortunately my 815 doesn't have the problem.

That sounds like a Motorola quality control issue, and I got lucky.

Mine has worked fine from the beginning and I quite pleased with it - other than VZW "crippling" the phone. And I'm researching and working on that.

I haven't really read any posts about the restarting issue but I know that my GF has the same phone and has had the same issue just not as frequently.

There are plenty of posts on doing seem editing and flashing the phones BIOS on this site. I am sure you will find them.

I just called VZW and complained about the issue again and they told me that they will give me another phone but a different manufacturer to rid me of the problem once and for all.

I hope I can get the LG vx8100 or vx9800.

I have a few posts and have not heard any major issues with the phones other than the battery life on the vx9800.

Keep you all posted.

Well I exchanged the e815 for the lg vx8100 on Saturday and have not had any problems.

I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised by this phone. It feels sturdier than the v710 and e815 ever did (even out of the box) and I like that there is no play in the hinge at all. I also have noticed that there is no "static" in the speaker whn the volume is all the way up.

Who would have thought that Goldstar would make such a nice phone!

I don't know what it is, but my phone the 2nd of 2, (the first one did this as well). RESTARTS 4-6 TIMES A DAY. the phone will just freeze, then reboot. It does it so often I had to remove the password on boot feature. I don't know why its doing this. I want to try a LG 8100 because my LG vx6000 NEVER froze / restarted like this. I LOVE the phone, and all the featues, and use all of them! BUT what good is a phone that shuts off in the middle of trying to take a picture or txt msg? I can't believe this isnt happening more often... I use phones and computers FAST... generally I am waiting on them for menus to pop up, and don't know if thats part of the problem or not, but my friends 815 never does this, however I haven't had his long enough to...

After going through 6 phones, I now have the LG vx8100 and I am very pleased with it so far.

The only problem I have with the phone is the sound quality is kind of iffy. The volume will fluctuate while I am on the phone. This is no a problem in the house or at the office but when I am outside it can be very hard to hear what is being said.

I would suggest trying the vx8100 but remember that this is based on a weeks worth of use.
