e815 vs 6100

Does anyone have the e815 who used to have the 6100 by LG? I have the 6100 and it is really dropping calls more and more. I previously had the Motorola T720 which NEVER dropped calls (maybe once or twice in two years). I'd see postings on dropped calls, but didn't really understand what people were talking about because I never had that problem . Anyone who has knowledge of the 6100 AND the E815, I'd appreciate the input. Thanks!

My wife had the 6100 for about a week .We sent it back because it kept dropping calls ! Driving down the road it kept dropping calls. It also didn't work in department stores . Poor poor reception.

At that time I had the Kyocera 2325 which was an amazing reception phone . All the places her 6100 wouldn't work my Kyocera worked just fine . (I was not going to buy a new phone till I found one that had as good reception as my Kyocera ..)

Well my wife traded in her LG-6100 for a Motorola E-815 ...Wow,, All the places the 6100 didn't work the E815 DID ! The 815 worked so well we now have three of them . ( wife, son , and me )

We have had our 815's for about a month now and have had NO problems at all . Great phone

πŸ™‚ I had the T720 before I got my E815 on July 5. Never had a problem with either one of them dropping calls. And I used the E815 recently when I drove from Phoenix, AZ to New Orleans, LA and didn't even have a problem with it dropping calls in the middle of the wasteland known as Texas.

Mary, you also had e815. Maybe you can share your honest opinion on reception. I know you like LG, but your answer could be helpful. πŸ™‚

Personally, I have never dropped a call with E815!!!

I dropped two calls tonight. I thought I might need to update the PRL AND I tried to do that and when askec to press 1 or 2 to update , I did and nothing happened. after two prompts it disconnected me. I have the phone two weeks now and this is the first problem I am having

I only used it for about a week. I didn't have any dropped calls, but also have rarely had them on any of my other Verizon phones either. As far as reception, everyone keeps talking about the superior reception on the 815, but it was no better or worse than any of the other phones I have had (and I have had a lot).

πŸ™‚ The reception and call volume are much better on my E815 than it was on my T720 and I was happy with the T720 for a couple of years.

Hi,

I traded in my E815 for the 6100 about 72 hours ago. I have done quite a bit of traveling around Philly and New Jersey while speaking on my phone since then. I haven't had a single dropped call yet. Where are you located??

I understand from reading posts here and elsewhere that the 6100 has weaker receiption than the E815. However, I had the E815 for 2 days and traded it in for the LG 6100 for one reason alone...i could hear my own voice when i was talking on the E815. that is the best way i can describe it. it wasn't necessarily an echo per say, but it was very distracting. it was not a speaker phone or bluetooth issue either; it occured with just plain old regular hand set use. i went back to verizon and called the sales guy from...

Hi Halman,

We live in Winchester Indiana and work in Richmond Indiana .. We take US-27 south to work ,, Its a 25 mile drive . We have been with Verizon wireless for 10 years . The 1st phone we owned that would NOT drop a call in-between Winchester and Richmond was the Kyocera 2325. The 6100 would drop the call 5 to 8 miles out of town and if you was 1/2 way in-between Richmond and Winchester , , , no signal at all !! I have talked all the way to and from work several times on the 815 and not had the 1st dropped call .

The 6100 was a cool phone other than the reception problems we had out on the road . Around the house it worked great ...

I used the 6100 for about a year and thought it was a good phone. Only calls I dropped were in areas with bad reception. Just got the 815 and it is definitely an upgrade. The screen is bigger and clearer and reception is definitely better. Dropped calls are much less and reception is much improved, especially in the areas where I experienced little or no reception with the 6100. Each phone has its advantages but overall the 815 is definitely the better phone.

I used the 6100 for 9 days and returned it solely due to poor reception in New York City and Central NJ. I loved the features, but I bought it to use as a phone and it was an absolute piece of trash as far as reception. I went back to my Moto V60i. It was my first and probably last LG until they begin to address their deficient RF performance.

I NE2'd to the E815 10 days ago and have been blown away by the reception. Its never dropped a call, and the signal strength indicator has never been below 4 bars. You do hear a bit of your own voice - its called a side tone. Landlines have them but they seem to be rare in the cell phone world. (The lack of a side tone is why so may people yell into their cell phones.) As far as I can tell, most Mot...

I'm still in the testing phase but would 'Echo' πŸ˜‰ some of your comments. I'm getting reception in places I couldn't with my trusty old LG (4400), buildings where I could not get a signal before. If that’s been an issue before try the E815.

I did notice something like an echo (hearing own voice, kinda like on a landline as you mention) but found by moving the phone away and speaking in a normal voice it was minimal and the person I was talking to could hear me fine. If you're a consistent 'Loud Talker', use it all the time in a noisy environment, or are forced to yell into your phone a lot it could be a distraction. If you're evaluating you may want to try lowering your cell phone voice, maybe this phone's more sensitive than wh...

I too am in Central New Jersey and this 6100 is terrible with reception. Constantly dropping calls even when going towards New York City.

The one thing that is holding me back from the E815 is that echo everyone is talking about.Just how bad is it?? Is it all the time?? I seem to remember something like that on my V60 and I got used to it, hopefully that will be the case with the E815. Never again will I try a LG just because of the terrible reception.

I have not heard an echo on my phone, nor speaker-phone. Some blue-tooth headsets can create an echo, like Motorola HS820 and HS850. I have the Plantronics M2500, and have tried the Scala 500 with not one echo. A friend of mine has E815, and results are same as above. Hope this helps!!!

Skorpyo, I think many comments on the echo issue actually refer to hearing your own voice on the handset as described in previous posts, seems like this is very common. Speak kinda loud and hold the phone pretty close to your mouth, hear it? Maybe some phones are more sensitive than others. I find if speak in a landline tone folks can hear me fine and I don't really hear my voice.

Why do some people think they have to talk "LOUDLY" when on the cell phone? πŸ˜• Sure, if you yell in the phone, you may hear a echo.

So................. just speak in a low normal tone, others around you will probably appreciate it too since they really don't care about hearing your conversation! 😁

the best advice is that you should go to the verizon store and make a call fromt he E815 they have on display. Talk to a freind for 2-3 mins. You'll know right away if the "echo" is something that you can learn to deal with.

if you can deal with it, definitely get this phone. there are too many stories of people with poor receiption with the 6100. it just sucks for me cuz i'm stuck with the 6100 since i can't get over the echo thing.

actually, to respond to the part of your post about the v60...it doesn't have the echo. that was my last phone. it sounded great! everything else just sucked. and the v710 has the echo but not as bad.

have you ever had a call dropped on the NJTPK with 6100?

Analyzer,

Just FYI. I think some people are confusing mic noise with an echo issue.
