How can a phone be applauded and almost perfect for two weeks and then a competitors phone comes out that appears to be a dud and all of a sudden the E815 gets a series of poor reviews? It almost sounds as if the poor reviews are not real.I hope this is not the case but something sure looks fishy!

The reviews ar not real!!! Look in the LG 8100 forum, they believe Motorola is out to get them! They are just retaliating and signing up with fake user ids and trying to lower the rating on this flawless phone!!!

That's unfortunate. Also, unfair to the people who rely on this site for information.

We have both phones and rate them almost equal. I think the differences are mostly a matter of opinion.

How's the camera, speakerphone, reception and programmability of the 8100 that you have compared to the 815?

Check out the 8100 forum. There are issues with their camera, speakerphones, and reception. I guess no phone is perfect.

As far as the camera goes I have been able to produce very similar quality with both if you mess with the setting. I like the sound of the speakerphone better on the 8100 since the speakers are side mounted and not on the back (the voice command interface is slightly better on e815 though). I have had similar reception on both...did lose a couple calls on e815 but have also experienced the volume issue with the 8100.

Volume issue is an easy fix with the 8100. Menu, 0, 000000, change the voice privacy to standard, and the auto volume off. I have done this with every LG I have owned as they all sounded weird. After these changes, they all sounded great. My 8100 even sounds better than my 710 after doing this. While you are in that menu, you might as well enable the DUN through BT and the cable as those settings are right there as well.

Rally kid...is there a setting for voice privacy in the menu 0, 000000 area or is it just in the starndard settings area?

It is actually under call settings. I thought it was in the secret menu like a previous LG I used.

I understand that the voice dialing feature is the reason for a contact having multiple listings (e.g., mike home, mike cell all separate listing but saved together). But are you aware of any way around this so that you can just scroll through icons on one name. This is the main reason I switched from always having Motorola to LG, but I'm leaning more toward 815 than 8100. Thank you.

I personally prefer listing numbers seperately. My issue with the voice dailing is that on the e815 you can just say "call julio" whereas on the 8100 you have to say "call" then wait for it to ask the name then say "julio".

Much more streamlined by just saying the Call Juio. LG is a bit cumbersome on voice dial (note to others, just basing on LG in general, not 8100 as i don't know). Is it possible to be specific and say Call Julio Home or Cell? Even though you prefer this way, are you aware of a way to combine as I described in previous post?

No, and on the e815 if you have two numbers under a listing it does that second step to ask wether you want to call their mobile or home, etc. I just prefer to say "call julio's cell" therefore I prefer seperate listings. I have learned to not put the 's on the name but instead just an s (not julio's but julios) or the phone reads it back as" julio S cell" and it is so...

tried it and my e815 is still asking wether I want to call home or mobile after I say "call blank mobile"...maybe it cannot understand my accent or something.

Why don't you just set up a speed dial # for those often called people. The Speed Dial is faster and certainly less error prone! 😉

Because my hands free car kit requires voice dialing unless I want to take the phone out of my pocket first.
