Love the 815 but found a few serious Bugs

Guys - I need some help so that Moto will know about these bugs and fix them..

Bug 1 -
Caller ID is Screwed. If you are on a call and you get a call waiting. The number you see is not saved in the call list when you hang up.. This was an old Samsung bug that really pissed me off. On the Moto it actually records it as unknown call. This is totally a bug and needs to be fixed.. This can really upset you when someone calls and you want to call them back and you don't have their number when you think you do.

Bug 2 -
Low Battery when on Vibrate or Silence. The 815 is in Low batt mode quite a bit and when the phone is in Silent or Vibrate it still rings out battery warnings every 2 minutes or so. Imagine Being in a Movie or Office or Cour...

Bug 2 -
Low Battery when on Vibrate or Silence. The 815 is in Low batt mode quite a bit and when the phone is in Silent or Vibrate it still rings out battery warnings every 2 minutes or so. Imagine Being in a Movie or Office or Courtroom etc. And you have to turn your phone off and lose the ability to at least see who is calling..

I love this phone and I hope we can get these resolved.

Please let's start a group of guys that can report this to Moto to get this fixed. They are serious bugs but they do not take away that this is the hot ticket right now..

The 8100 is totally a piece of poop..

Thanks

battery life is the only slight problem i am having.

i dont think the 11 hours of standby, 4 hours of talk time is true.
they lied.

Specs say 4.67 hrs talk and 11.7 days standby. I thought something was wrong with mine, getting abt 1-2 hrs talk and 2 days standby. Took it in to VZ today - tested perfect. Tech told me the real battery time is just what I was getting - he said forget the specs. Can that be right? I read so many posts about the "awesome" battery life. Maybe it depends on your expectations but I expect more. I have 3 more days of my 15. BTW, not using VCAST or extras, just a little bluetooth and occasional pix. I need a good battery but don't think they should put the crappy one on the phone then sell you the extended. 😡 Is there a better phone on or off VZ? I'm not on contract (yet.) Thanks for help. 😁

well I am sure the published battery life times are based on the most restrictive power settings ... bluetooth off, screen brightness down, Display timeout 1min, ....

Bluetooth is the biggie.

Exactly what they told me today in the store when I had mine tested. Lower your expectations or exchange phone.

You can always expect less battery time than on the specs. and it makes since if you really stop and think about it. And this is true for ALL phones, just look at any other forum.

When a manufacture test it's battery, they do it under "ideal" conditions.

Some things to check that they set when testing are, do you have the backlight turned off or on, if on - for how long, how long is the display set to turn on, do you have bluetooth enabled, is screen saver on, do you ever touch or bump the side button and turn on the display or backlight, do you ever use the menu but not make a call, is GPS set to on - even for 911, do you ever do ANYTHING with the phone in between calls?

All these things take power. If you actually just put it ...

Thank you, Thank you, that was so helpful. 😁 I appreciate your breaking it all down into the basics. It must seem obvious if you're used to these phones, but I was so used to a black and white basic phone with a battery that went on forever - I didn't even think about charging it more than once a week. And I didn't think about buying all those chargers because I didn't realize I would even need them. I will try to be aware of all the things you mentioned and most of all, change my charging habits and expectations. Once I do that, I think I will finally be reconciled with all the "bugs" and problems and learn to love the phone.
